Maybe you need to post entries as they come in, like you do for the other contests? Might remind people that it's going on?

I think your idea of making people apply before the contest starts was a good one, but if you don't get a reasonable number of entries by the deadline, it would seem totally reasonable to extend the deadline by another two weeks or so. I'm sure people will be inspired to send their pictures once they start seeing other entries.

I was going to shoot the apartment tomorrow, did the shopping last weekend and BAM I got sick. Like, total-can't-move flu. I hope I have enough for 3 photographs, but - a week extension? Would be wonderful.
3 weeks for those doing the cure... would be even more fair! :-)
Sigh. I moved only a few months ago and am so not ready for this contest. Wish it were a couple of months down the road! Always next year, right?
How about a certain number of square feet per occupant? I just moved in with my fiance and between us we have three children and an expansive 1400 square feet!
