What is your one favorite element in your small, cool home? It's really hard to pick one thing but I have to say that even though I don't use it all the time, my large foyer makes my apartment seem a whole lot more spacious that it is. Every room is connected to it and I love the layout. The bedroom seems far away from the living room and when I have parties, the foyer doubles the amount of room for guests to mingle in. That's why it became a lounge. I just need to find a *really* comfy chair and I think I would actually use it all the time!

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in furnishing your small home? The biggest challenge has definitely been the kitchen. When I moved in, the place had great bones but the bath and kitchen were pretty ghastly. I did the bath first and made a lot of mistakes but learned a lot and spent more than a year researching and planning before remodeling the kitchen. I designed and found everything for it including original wood floors that one of my neighbors had just removed from their place. I opened up the kitchen to the living room and it's perfect for cooking and entertaining, looks like it has always been there, and has greatly improved the feel of the apartment.
