What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in furnishing your small home? Building the loft and ladder was a challenge, but with a little trigonometry and a few helping hands the job was completed. I did not want it to look too much like a college dorm but I needed the space and it was the most logical spacial solution.

fabulous way to integrate an office - I would love to work in there.
Love the use of contrasting red and white with splashes of other colors in the apartment. very miami.
The art is fun... love the complimentary color combos. And great high ceilings! I have loft envy ;)
I can't wait to see the painting you are working on when it's finished!
Excellent use of this eensy space! I love that your furniture isn't so aggressively large, but you managed to fit a lot of it in there! Love, love, love the art!
This guy knows what he's doing!
I have never seen your apartment, or anywhere you have lived other than at home.....it's really nice! When we get in to a place where we can actually decorate...you're hired!

very nice
Pretty cool
Is there any way to enlarge these images (other than the first one)? Make them larger please!!!
I agree. I want larger images, Zach. Very nice use of space. Not overly masculine. I'm not a fan of cave-offices, though. Had one in Austin and here in Miami. Ended up moving my home office next to a bright window. Makes me feel less secluded. Just can't work like that myself. Yours looks awesome though.
I like the red highlights. Your art is amazing. I always forget how great a painter you are!
All,
Thanks for the support and kind words.
You should be able to see the larger images by clicking on the thumbnails below the larger photo.
Thanks little sis. I would be happy to help!
Warm and cozy.
****Only the first image can be enlarged!!! Please fix, AT!!!
(same problem in all contest entries!!)
nice place!
Zach is a good friend of mine. As a designer and artist, he's got a great eye and apparently great decor tastes! Love it, its n/ the stereotypical bachelor pad.
that ladder/stairs are impressive
I think this space is very homey looking and functional. I was feeling it until I saw the loft bed. The bed is very boxy and the dark color is jarring contrast with the stiars and something about its lines says college to me. Perhaps a wood treatment that matched the stairs or someway to tie it into the rest of the apartment wouldnt make it so jarring.
is the bunk bed sturdy enough?
Trumysitque: I think i may have to agree with you jarring comment. I am considering restoring the blond wood look, lightening things up and the lines could definitely be improved. It still holds a little too much of a college field, of this I agree.
Iroh: You would be surprised.
I love the stripy art.
Amazing design, love everything...can you tell me where the couch and chair is from?
