What is your one favorite element in your small, cool home? The open space — I love the huge windows and high ceilings. My building used to be a factory that made sails for ships, and they've kept a lot of the original architectural details like the brick walls.

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in furnishing your small home? $$$! I'm a grad student, so I've had to be creative when I can't afford exactly what is in my head. I've taken a lot of art classes, so I made the paintings. And of course I always try to find things on sale, like the wallpaper I double-stick taped in the living room and entry!

Sheex Bedding
I love the windows and the painted brick walls! I don't really understand the point of the bed photo -- that the rumpled bed matches the textured walls? The pass-through element with the bar stools strongly reminds me of the Seinfeld episode in which he remodeled his kithcen, which was, of course, a comical disaster. Maybe that element functions really well in your space, but it looks very awkward to me.
Lovely! You've done an amazing job, especially with a small budget. I LOVE the giant poppy stickers on the fridge (Ikea, right? How removable are they?)
Thumbs UP for doing THIS on a budget!!
The bed picture is to show off the architecture I love-- but yes, thanks my bed is rumpled! There is an old screen covered with graphic black and white Ikea fabric that divides the living room and bed not in the shot. Next year! Thanks so much for your comments.
Love the architecture of your place! The decals on the fridge look terrific, and I may have to steal that idea. It's great that you did all of this on a budget.
I like that you turned your closet into a little sewing nook, very cute. I wish I could see a little more from the photos but maybe you can't step back far enough in some places to give the photos a little breathing room.
Love the windows.
As someone that is a diehard about making the bed perfectly, everyday, I love the bedroom shot. It's rumpled, yes, but works so beautifully! And makes me want to run upstairs and rough up my own bed, although I imagine I'd end up remaking it before the day was out :) And love your sewing closet... I wish I had an empty closet for that!
Wow! Really great job. I've been in another unit in this complex and it is a challenging little, but beautiful space.
I love the fridge decals! That's so clever.
i like this one.
yay beth.
I have the same poppy decals but I put them on an accent wall in my living room. I never thought about using them on the fridge. GREAT IDEA!!! to post #2 : They can be easily removed. Actually, I had issue with keeping them on the wall (dust/ painted surface). A lil double stick tape should do the trick. And yes-- you can find them at Ikea.
Very impressive. You got great pictures for such a small space. I like your little apron.
To bad the brick was painted, and the top of the pass-through needs to go.
This is the first use of a wall decal that I have ever liked - for that you get a thumbs up from me.
Very inspiring!
wow beth, im impressed. u really did a great job with such a small space. can u design my apartment? - Jeff
I think you should consider going into the fridge design business. That is the coolest looking appliance I've ever seen. Are those decals or did you paint it on?
You have a very cute apartment! I like your sewing closet, that is a great use of space.
Wow, you are amazing, your colors and the warm feeling of home. I'm afraid for you to see our house, but I'm ready for some ideas. What a great talent to have ! You even sew, cook, among many other talents, can't wait to meet you it will be so fun. I say thumbs up!!!!!! Marilyn
Love these photos. Love the sewing closet-made me want one, and I don't sew. Love the architecture in the bedroom shot...but my favorite has to be the main living area. It is so inviting. It looks classy and put together but still remains so comfortable looking! I love the colors you chose, (the touch of green in the pillow...) and the windows--wow, amazing.
THUMBS UP.
Love this one. Your sewing closet is great!
Love your fridge and sewing closet!
Love the brick walls! And I totally disagree about the pass through. Maybe in real life I wouldn't dig it, but I like the way it looks in the photo. It's like a little peep show to the kitchen and I would think in a small space that the bar with stools would be very functional.
My only suggestion would be to have both sofas slipcovered in white. Because of the similaritity in size and style I think it would give the space a more cohesive and pulled together look. But who's looking at the sofas anyway when you have those great windows!! Love love LOVE the windows! Envious of those windows!! You have a very charming place!!
