What is your one favorite element in your small, cool home? My favorite element is the Murphy Bed that allows me to entertain friends without it feeling like a bedroom. My couch was designed as a bench, so I wouldn't have to move furniture around to let the bed down. This configuration allows me to have a living room space, dining area, work area, kitchen, and what feels like a separate bedroom in a 20' x 11' space that doesn't feel over crowded. Talk about space efficiency.

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in furnishing your small home? The biggest challenge I faced was making my apartment more contemporary on a small budget. This meant doing much of the work myself, stripping paint off beautiful hardware, refacing cabinets, updating and adding storage and having the original subway tile reglazed instead of replacing it. Apartment Therapy was an invaluable resource through all of these projects. Some of my other favorite resources are Craigslist, Home Depot, IKEA, Z Gallerie & Target.
