What is your one favorite element in your small, cool home? I LOVE that I have huge windows that give this place a lot of really nice light. It makes the place seem larger. I also love how the windows open outward...gives them a lot of charm. What really makes this place though is all the period details that come from a 100 year old building...wood floors, great moldings, original subway tile in the bathroom, etc. I fell in love with it when I first saw it and had to live here! Plus it was great to get a place with a large enough closet to make a bedroom nook.

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in furnishing your small home? The biggest problem I had was my living room layout. I don't have an open wall, because every wall has doors or windows right in the middle. The room is too small to float the furniture I have, so I needed someplace to put my sofa. Since the bedroom nook has 2 entrances, I closed off an entire wall with curtains. It gave me a lot more options on furniture layout, but because it is blocked off I also don't have to make my bed all the time :)

the shelves above the bed are great. I like that they provide storage without giving you the feeling that something will fall down on your head as you sleep.
Not enough is shown of the place to judge.
I like the pictures of the MEN in the bathroom.
Wonderful!!
That snippet of your bathroom makes me want to see more (I can't believe I just said that about a bathroom).
Very nice, but I worry about the large baskets stored over the bed. Since you are in SF, I hope you have thought that through, and that only lightweight fluffy items can fall on you in an earthquake.
I love the grouping of old boxers in the bathroom and also the different pieces of art hung around. It all ties together nicely.
Quite nice from what I can see. I like how the furniture is more contemporary/modern in style than the apartment but they all go well together.
Love that blue lamp by the couch.
I love it when an older place still has its original period details such as tiles in bathrooms etc. Nothing worse than a place w/ its original tiles replaced with something cheap and hideous like I had in a studio I lived in for 6 years.
I love what I am able to see! Would definitely like to see more pics. Especially pictures of the entire room rather than a close up of a small portion.
I really like your paintings above the chair.. nice apt. gets my vote.
I agree the place seems fantastic but pictures could include more. Love the pictures in the bathroom and the wall color in the living room. What color is the living room? Thanks!
Where is this lamp from?
the large one
Get job! You have an eye for simple details. I love your vintage art collection.
Great place ! It feels much larger than it is !
What a fantastic colour palette.
i cant really tell whats going on here...
This place looks familiar - Jason, do you live on Powell Street?
LOVE the wall color! So much more elegant than the other entrants!
Hey, thanks everyone for the great comments. I have only been in the place about 8 months, so it still has a ways to go. Sorry dmh, I live close to van ness and geary.
Pretty much everything you see came from thriftstores, fleamarkets or craigslist (i rarely buy home items new and never pay full price for anything I own)...the lamps came from the salvation army, and the wall color in the livingroom is called Silent Night by Benjamin Moore. The pics in the bathroom came from a great little used book shop around the corner from me that has several boxes of vintage photos. I loved the middle picture of the boxer from the 30's, so I built a collection around it. Thanks again!
Love, love, love our place.
ooh...love the wall color in the living room...I think I am going to have to pick up a can of "silent night" paint for my little bedroom nook. thanks.
I think this place "looks" great...It's hard to tell since the pictures don't seem to give a full view of any of the spaces. I hope you make it to the finals so we can see more. Good Job!
Hot!
I love, love, LOVE your apartment! Great use of space and color. There's definitely lots of character and charm in your little nest!
fantastique!
