Who Lives Here: Kendra + husband Location: South End — Boston, Massachusetts Size: 720 square feet
What is your favorite element of your Small & Cool home? It's hard to say. Honestly, my husband and I really enjoy the fact that our new apartment is less than 7 months old and that we're lucky enough to be able to live in Boston's South End neighborhood.

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in furnishing your Small Cool home? The interior layout of our apartment is rather generic, a.k.a. "cookie cutter". We knew we had to somehow spice it up a bit and began our design process immediately.
Inspired by art and culture from the 1930's AND the 1970's, we coined the description for our new home, "deco/disco". Now that we had a vision for our new home, the detailing process became focused and efficient.
Benjamin Moore Aura Paints were used for the walls, an Art Deco pattern wallpaper became the backdrop for our dining room and living room, and we had our living room chair and 2 dining room chairs reupholstered in beautiful and graphic fabrics to enhance our desired aesthetic.
We love our home and truly feel it's an extension of our creative personalities. Thanks for your thumbs up!

LOOOVVEEEE THIS.... MY FAVE SO FAR!!
Love this home. And I'm in love with the bedroom plant :-) I would like to know what sort of plant that is. Thanks
Love love love! Disco/deco... how ingenious! May I ask where you got your sideboard and coffee table? (And the lamp in your bedroom?)
wallpaper and kookoo clock =love!
I agree, Homestylist! My fav so far too!
That round endtable in the living room is beautiful!</I>
Elegant, cozy, warm. Not fussy. The red cage in the kitchen is great, similar to something I have. I will follow the rules and avoid posting a link to my blog, but we've got a similar vibe going on, Kendra!
Very nice.
I suddenly feel the urge to put a large palm tree in my bedroom :-)
lovely work!!!
Lovely home! Everything you've done has made it look the opposite of cookie-cutter.
My favorite so far!
Where did you get your bed?! I LOVE IT!
I never think of Boston as a "Mid-Century town" -- thanks for breaking the stereotype! Handsome place.
you guys won last year w/ a different apartment, yes? (i recognize some of the furnishings)
I spent my early adulthood in small South End apartments, and so I understand the challenges renters face getting their places livable while being stylish. This is by far the best one I've ever seen.
On a side note, I'd probably consider blanking out the addie on the floor plan.
Can you tell us the names of the BM paint colors?
Loving the bed and the windows and lighting. Not loving the rest. I think its that wallpaper. Overall its very neat and clean. Well done.
Where is that bed from?
I love the bedroom and the palm is a nice touch.
If you don't make it in the Small Cool contest, perhaps you ought to consider the Fall Colors contest! What a fun, non-cookie-cutter home you've managed!
What is that awesome red cage thing in the kitchen??
This must be the same couple that won last year - the wallpaper/ cuckoo clocks had me thrown for a loop for a second there! I thought you couldn't enter if you won the year before, but I guess if you move, then you're "in."
Kind of makes for a boring contest, though, doesn't it? Although your place is lovely.
love the bed! where is it from?
This is beautiful! Full tour please! lol
Lovely space!
Nice. Love the palm in the bedroom as well as the paint colours selected.
Very cool, but 720 sf seems not that small to me.
I'm with saranoelle! Can you tell us the B.Moore paint colors you used? Well done!
None of the rooms really do it for me except the bedroom. That bedroom is UN-REAL. Beautiful bed! I want it!!
I know this has to be the same people. I like how you have re purposed your items from your last apartment. But I'm still in love with the other one. That said, you've done a great job, but give some other not in the industry people have a chance. Lol.
Love the apartment. Doesn't look small at all. Love the palm and the colors and the floor. My fave so far.
The vase on the living room table (looks like a series of faces) has been a punchline among my friends and I for years. I always see it at TJ Maxx, didn't know anyone ever bought them...:)
Otherwise lovely apartment!
Calm down about the palm tree, people. It looks good because it's being picked out by a spotlight. Turn the light off and it'd be just another tree. It's a good feature for the room, not some sort of arboreal miracle.
Which is not to say that this isn't a lovely apartment. I like the combination of styles and eras, from the longhorns over the kitchen cupboards to the ornate candle sconces. It's all very deft.
Except for the grid of cuckoo clocks. That was a fad, not a trend, a fact that's painfully obvious now that it's over.
it's fine...
yep, looks like it's kendra from "brad and kendra".
it's been said before on some of the other posts about your home(s), but I really wish you'd leave these AT contests alone for a few years and give other people the chance to shine, too.
I agree with a number of other people - I LOVE your bed. I never would have thought to have a bed with side panels like that, but I am totally jealous and can totally picture a similar bed in my bedroom.
And I dont care that you were in the comp last year and not sure really why other people do!!! It doesn't take away from the fact that your place is so cosy, special and unique.
Yeah, who cares about the past competitions. New apartment, new chances. Simple as that. People want to talk about last year; did anyone see the kid that won last year. The epitome of poor photo taking, poor layout, poor color choice and frankly, just not even a cool space, but he still won! Arg...Never thought dwell or home and garden would publish something that was taken with the equivalent of a first model cell phone camera. Just saying, it could be much worse than Kendra entering again. I'd take a look at this 100% over last years tragic outcome. However, I'm still not loving the wall paper. I think the bed is the Limo from Bo Concept. I'm actually kinda thinking of one myself, in walnut.
This is fabulous. LOVE your use of graphic prints on the walls and the bedroom is fantastic! I have never been a fan of low profile beds but yours is definitely an exception!
I'm so tired of this place. It was just a house tour and it was was in the contest. I don't care if you moved it looks exactly the saaaaame.
please share your paint colors! esp. the kitchen color, i thought it was BM's "franklin lakes green", but i don't think they make that in Aura. its real perty.
ps - don't worry about these player haters.
Bed: "Limo" by BoConcept
T.V. Sideboard: "Inzoni" by BoConcept
Paint Colors: Benjamin Moore Aura Affinity Collection
kitchen - azores
living room - cinder
bedroom - tranquility
Red Birdcage: Anthropologie
(Thank you to those who have left positive comments about our home that we worked so hard to personalize in just 5 months.)
Lovely colours. Everything is perfectly curated to go together oh so nicely (even the longhorns work!). It looks like a great place to comfortably (and stylishly) call home!
Perfect. Absolutely perfect.
You seem to have storage and clutter entirely under control. I'm always looking for opportunities in my own space to find more ways to utilize under-utilized spots, so I can't help but notice that the bathroom has two doors in an apartment small enough to get by easily with only one.
Have you considered closing off the door between the kitchen and bath? My first thought is art on the kitchen side and shelves/hanging storage on the bathroom side -- maybe a place to hang wet towels or bath robes.
Just a thought. Not that you need any suggestions; it's just I always think this way.
Poor lighting in the bathroom. Recessed lighting over a vanity cast shadows on one's face, not good for shaving or putting on makeup. Beautiful Bedroom though, love the bed, the plant, lighting and all the natural light from the awsome window.

Love all the colours....the kitchen is so lovely!
I appreciate your use of color and am very impressed about the 5 month time frame.
Love the side table next to the couch. Can you share where to find something like it?
