Who Lives Here: Brigham Location: South End — Boston, Massachusetts Size: 225 square feet
What is your favorite element of your Small & Cool home? The loft — it allows me to keep my bedroom area removed from my living area, which is not always possible in a studio.
Give Brigham a THUMBS UP if you think this home belongs in the finals!

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in furnishing your Small Cool home? Storage is definitely the hardest challenge. I work through it with the built-in bookcase, using every available surface of the closet, having a bureau in the loft, and with the baker's rack (which is also workspace — there is ZERO counter space in the kitchen area).

Nomade Express Slee...
Nice loft, I love the rug on the living room floor!
P.S. - Am I the only one who finds this website difficult to navigate? I am trying to see all the entries but the link takes me to buy the book or some other page, this website gets really confusing sometimes!
You've done an amazing job with the place.
Beautiful
Could a tiny little narrow island help with the lacking counter space? It seems like there's room for it on the floor plan. I feel your pain!
Well you certainly can't tell you're struggling for storage space. It looks very well organized. Charming.
Adorable!
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. So cozy and colorful!
Not only worth a "Thumbs Up" for inclusion in the Finals, but this one ought to be the Winner! Gorgeous. What an incredible eye for style, color and practicality.
PS -- Geo83, I am with you. The website's navigation is atrociously bad.
badass
Geo83--
Sounds like you are clicking the book link, and not the contest page links. You can click the "contest page" link in the middle of this page, or the small "small cool contest" link in the top nav.
Either takes you to a page where all the entries are, but you have to scroll down to see them.
So chic and I love the wall color! I agree with another reviewer that it looks like there might be room for a high, long, narrow counter/table where the wood floor meets the kitchen floor. Maybe a couple of bar stools would work on the living room side of the counter/table. Hard to say from a picture, though. Could be too much in a small space.
I think they changed the site. Boo. I wanna see all the entries. I had this in my history: http://contests.apartmenttherapy.com/2010/small-cool/main/category/tiny
patrick (the other one) - I'm having the exact same problem as Geo83: the main contest site now has only two buttons, one for the FAQ and one for the book. Where there used to be a grid with all the entrants there is now nothing. You can't scroll down. Are you able to see them?
Ah, yes, same thing here. I'm sure it's just a temporary glitch, and not, as dnlandes suggests, a change in the contest site.
So you sleep with revolutionaries?
There's that chartreuse again!!!
Love what you did with the place! I'm in 225 sq ft too. If I decide to stay a while I might have to consider a loft.
Cute and Cozy! Love the art over the bed. Can I ask the source?
Awesome, compact living..
It is not my style, but I like it! It would be nice to see a picture of the bathroom
This is the smallest place i have ever seen but i love it! The wall color is so nice for that small space. And I love the loft! It's cozy! Also it is more flexible to use 2 end tables instead of one big coffee table. Also the dining table is so cute! Oh and I agree with the others that you may be able to add a narrow kitchen island in front of your kitchen to add some counterspace. Otherwise everything is good!
Love the fun green color! And kudos, I have way more space than you and my place looks way more cluttered. I also agree, would some kind of island work to give you extra counter space?
Great little place!
I enjoy the way you repeated the same 4 colors (green, white, grey and red) everywhere to make your small space feel bright, cohesive and spacious!
@theresaann - the art above the bed is by Shepard Fairey, I believe.
Fantastic job!
Thanks for sharing. I am currently looking at a place that has a loft similar to yours and have been brainstorming whether it would really work for me or not. You give me hope that I can make it work.
Your place is so nice and organized, but also welcoming.
Very cool. I love the loft, although I'd hate having to use the ladder... knowing me, I'd fall to my death trying to climb down that thing while half-asleep.
Makes me feel like a doofus for having storage space problems in my 1800sf place with 2 people in it. If one person can live like this in 225sf, surely my husband and I can in over 2x that space.
Great job! Love your space.
Amazing.
Great, clean design. How do you fit it all in 225 sq. ft.? Sophisticated execution.
This space feels fun and whimsical but also cool, neat and sleek. The balance between quirky and sophisticated is hard to strike and Brigham's done it beautifully. Love the minty green walls, eclectic art and little touches like the kitchen dish towel.
I love the green walls and the unexpected pops of color in every area. Never works out as well when I try it myself.
This is great use of space. I love it. I am wondering though, what do you do when you want to cook dinner? How do you prep.? Just curious. =)
Perhaps some metro shelving with a counter top? They're see-through so they allow for a fairly open feel:

(I know you said you had a baker's rack, but we can't see it from the pictures, so I thought I'd add the link anyhow)
Love, love, love this.
So happy that I am finally seeing your place on here! Good luck!
I just got a chance to see this one on here and wish I hadn't missed the voting. This is one of my top three favorites! Great job!!
