What is your favorite element of your Small & Cool home? Our living room is the place where we have put together our collections; art and photography, books and magazines and our vinyl records, not to mention our seven skateboards. The highlight, though, is our big couch, fitting the whole family to watch tv every night.

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in furnishing your Small Cool home? Our main challenge was to create a cozy place with space for us and our kids, while we needed to acomodate the objects we have been gathering along our 15 years together. The solution was to split the room in three parts; the photo galery behind the coutch, the book shelves on the wall above the tv and the so called music room with space for our jazz records collection. The skateboards are spreaded all over the place, serving also as a hip decorative element.

five photos of one room?
Yeah I think we need pictures of different rooms! We cannot give you a thumbs up if we only manage to see a corner of your living room...
yeah, that's totally weird. i kinda wonder what they did with the other 70% of the space that they didn't show us! it's an interesting floor plan.
I vote that we want to see the kitchen and maybe the kidz bedroom(s). Perhaps there's some sort of euro-taboo acting here, against showing adults' bedrooms? LOL.
A 3 bed, 2 bath with a laundry and dining room at just 1000 square feet...?
How did you hang those bookshelves??? They look so heavy. How do you keep from crashing down?
Five dark pics of the same room? Two close-up of the bookcase?
I thought this was going to be a 250 sq ft apartment - then I saw it was 1000 square feet! two bookcase photos? I can't vote for a house if there is only 1/5th featured....
thebean,
It is possible to have all that in a 1000 sq ft. But it just depends on the size of each room.
I used to live in Hong Kong. My apartment was ONLY 600 sq ft but there're 3 bedrooms & 1 bath! HOWEVER the bedrooms, kitchen & bathroom are TINY! :D Well the good thing is living room & dining room are of a pretty good size.
Then I had a friend who lived in a 900 sq ft apartment with 3 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms too. Again, the bedrooms & bathrooms are pretty small. So as the living room & dining room. But the kitchen was a decent size.
So I think it all depends on the size of each room. :) Here in the US, we are just not used to living in a chopped up space so we'd think that it is impossible to have so many rooms in such small square footage.
The layout (in the diagram) looks very interesting -- I only wish the photos could tell us more.
This is such a tease!
Do you live in your living room? Another observation: You....have....a....lot....of...stuff.
Your sofa looks comfy though ;)
I call Shenanigans -
This is obviously more than 1000 Sq/ft...
...and I agree: We need more than one room to view before we can judge.
i've been waiting to see an entry from a family of 4 (humans, not that i dont love animals!). a look into other rooms would be nice...
like the skateboards on the wall.
As others have said this is silly-- how can we judge such an apartment with based on photos of only one room.
multiple photos of the bookcase, why?
also seems unlikely to be under 1000 square feet... perhaps 1000 sq meters? or some 3000 square feet?
I agree that I'd like to see pictures of other rooms. But I also want to say that this place could definitely be 1,000 square feet or less. I live in a rowhouse with three bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths, a living room, dining room and separate kitchen...and the whole thing is 1,100 square feet. And yes, all the rooms are tiny. Old apartments and rowhouses with small rooms can squeeze more rooms into 1,000 square feet than you'd think.
I would've voted for this apartment if there were more pictures of it. That is to say, all the pictures shown were of only 1 room - the living room. And while nice, for an apt with 3 bedrooms, separate kitchen and dinning rooms, etc. I expected pictures of other rooms as well. Can't really judge how you've managed and decorated an apartment for 4 with pictures of only 1 room.
Nice living room though.
Great couch! Where did it come from, if you don't mind me asking.
You guys are right, we should have sent some other pictures from some other rooms... but we have made a little confusion though. As the entry text shoul talk about "our preferred room", we thought that we should submit pictures only from this especific room. But that's ok. Maybe next time we'll manage to get you some more views.
For those who cannot believe that the apartment has 1000 sq feet, we say that it really does. The room in the picture is our biggest room, and the photos made the room look even bigger. But believe us, it's a small apartment - and we are starting to have some issues with the one bathroom, as our kids are getting bigger and bigger - we'll have to move soon.
The couch, @bisforbeth, is from Micasa - a very nice shop here in São Paulo - http://www.micasa.com.br/
Thank you all you guys for voting, we are very happy here in São Paulo for taking part in some nice contest like this one.
Best wishes from Brazil,
André and Marcela
Sorry but I must agree with some above - can't vote for something if they can't show pictures of more than one room.
You think with a 1000 sq ft there would be some place other than the living room to store the bike. Where are the pictures for the rest of the rooms.
Maybe we could get AT to let them replace some photos? I'd like to see more!
eu gostei :D
AT, would it kill ya to take two seconds to run things through a spelling/grammar check, esp. when submissions come from people with a variety of native languages? Help me help you [take you seriously]!
I love your home. Your taste is very rich and sophisticated.
