Who Lives Here: Erika & Kevin Location: Logan Circle — Washington, DC Size: 553 square feet
What is your favorite element of your Small & Cool home? It was love at first sight when I saw my red armoire. I bought it even though it didn’t quite fit in my last apartment because I knew it would be the centerpiece of my next place. It was my design inspiration for the living room and really grounds the space with something warm and beautiful.

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in furnishing your Small Cool home? Kevin and I had to combine two apartments into one when we moved in together, and I definitely had more than my fair share of clothes and creature comforts. We downsized substantially, but storage was still an issue. So we tried to make sure every piece in the apartment served our need for storage and style: the armoire holds our TV and stereo equipment; in the hallway we installed hidden shoe cubbies that rest flush against the wall; the bench in the bedroom holds all our towels and linens; and we found a stunning bookcase at an antique furniture store that holds more than 200 books.

Nomade Express Slee...
Love the turquoise coffee table and the bedroom looks so wonderfully inviting!
Also, kudos for picking a great shade of yellow.
Classy, homey. Nice!
I want to see the outside! Is that a spiral staircase in the front? What's happening?
Pleasing.
I absolutely love this home. I tried listing the things that I liked and well...it was simply everything.
I love absolutely everything! The bedroom colors are dreamy, and the fabric in the bottom left corner on the first picture perfectly pulls all the colors in the living room together. Love it!
Lovely bedroom!
I like all the color! Couldn't see the 'red' in the armoir on my computer, but loved everything else.
YAY! Really great. I love the vibrant colors in the living room and calm loveliness of the bedroom.
Congrats :)
Love your color combination!

I love the colors too. Could you give the names and brand?
I like that it's a small space with color and interesting decor without looking at all pretentious. Very homey!
It's a rainy day here in the Pacific NW but having looked at this apartment, I feel cheered up. Nice job!
I like the way the different spaces evoke different kind of spaces (the hallway feels like a pub to me, the bedroom a refreshing beach house...) without feeling jumbled.
Loving everything I see! That turquoise coffee table is fabulous and one of my favorite things in your living room! Also your bedroom really looks lovely and inviting! Great job!
Gorgeous. Love all the colors!
Your colors, especially in the bedroom, are beautiful! Love the blue coffee table too.
love that chest of drawers in the bedroom. is it from a store, or did you find it and repurpose it? and i always loved that ikea chair in the bedroom; we had it in the shop i work at and it was my favorite chair.
this looks lovely! i really like the colors and the hallway. (plus, i used to live in a very similarly sized condo in logan circle so i've gotta like this! :) )
Thank you everyone for the kind words!
To answer your questions:
1. Yes, we have a brick patio in the back that we share with our neighbors upstairs. The iron spiral staircase leads to their unit (we live in a three-level rowhouse and we have the first floor).
2. The paint in the bedroom I believe is Behr "Ozone" and in the living room we went with True Value Easy Care "Sunshine." I'm sorry I can't remember for sure, I tried not to pay too much attention to the names of the paints because for some reason it started guiding my decision! :)
3. The black dresser in the bedroom we got from the same antique store as the bookcase in the hallway. It was refurbished once before (and wasn't originally black) but we bought it as is. There are a few imperfections, but I think that adds to its charm. We love it!
Thanks again, I really appreciate hearing from other design lovers!
too much for me. except for the beautiful bedding.
I love the use of color, good job!
this apartment is FABULOUS! when you have a small space you have to be very creative with decor..and you have achieved that!!!!
Your place is great. I love the windows. I also like the way you utilized the space in the hallway, especially, by placing the mirror in the hallway. Now, I am anxious to see a picture of your kitchen.
Great use of colour in your living room! I would never think to put those colours and patterns together but they really work!
Pray-tell, where did you get that fun patterned side chair in the living room?
the hallway is so amazing!
I love the color and style of this place! However, I would have traded one of the living room pics, and one of the bedroom pics for a a pic of the bath and kitchen.
This place looks like it evolved. I love it.
I really love it! Great use of colour, without being over the top. I'm a lil disappointed though... from the title I thought that it was about joining two apartments to make one bigger one, and got quite excited at the thought!
The colors in the living room make me so happy.
