Who Lives Here: Laurent + daughter Location: Ivry-sur-Seine — Paris, France Size: 700 square feet
What is your favorite element of your Small & Cool home? The natural light and the view: we're on the last level of a small building of 4, no bad or near opposite, 180°ree; views, one on 19th century buildings (my daughter's room and kitchen, West), the other on 20th century historic buildings by Jean Renaudie (living room and my bed room, East). Sunrise and sunset in downtown : beautiful cityscapes !

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in furnishing your Small Cool home? Create a desk in my room, all in length and with only one possible place to bed. Wood, screws, paint … the result is functional and I like it. Then modify the chimney, too rustic and smoky. Wood, etc… Finally, create a dining area in the kitchen, under the window, in a very narrow space but with a beautiful light (sunset): a tabletop from IKEA under which I fixed not 4 feet but 3.

White Enamel Flatwa...
That wall sconce in the bedroom is killer.
it's a wonderful space. this is just my idiosyncratic pet peeve talking, but i think it would come off a whole lot better if you hid all the electrical cords. i hate dangling wires!
Altho you just posted this, the prompt is saying voting is already closed. Please fix this.
This is a very cool space. The section with all the built-in is a nice bonus. I think the layout of the furniture and rug has much potential. I am give a thumbs up for interesting space. The red/green accent is curious, what is going on there?
well I was going to give thumbs up but not allowed.
Wow, that does not seem like 700 square feet. The dining area and bedroom is so small. I'm guessing the living room is huge in comparison. I wish that couch had a chaise on the left side.

I like this a lot. But then, I basically like apartments in Paris.
great closet space!
I can't wait to see the bathrooms!
Love the unobtrusive bed.
I love the French. Careless, timeless style that always seems to come together, stray cords and all. The arched lamp over the walkway that illuminates the sofa area would bother me though, I would rather see something hung from the ceiling.
where is that sectional from?
Just curious...but is the tv really on the floor? Or am I missing something. Seems awkward...
I love the red/green on the doors. It really gives the room verve. Love the whole place, beautifully composed and giving surprises.
would love to come over to visit and sit by the wonderful fireplace! in exchange i can offer a glass of wine in my little garden in the heart of hamburg-st. pauli.
ah its true.. the french to it better
The space itself is very intriguing.
But I want to get on a plane to come move your furniture and art around. Which is much more of a compliment than it seems!
Voted thumbs up because of the cute dining area. :)
"we're on the last level of a small building of 4, no bad or near opposite, 180°ree"
Hm... what do you suppose "no bad" is supposed to be? I assume it's supposed to mean there's nothing opposite their windows to block the light in the back, but...?
I like all the elements pointed out in "challenges"; also like the little side nesting (or so I assume) tables and the couch color. I don't know if the green and red paint are doing it for me, though (even if they are in the rug); maybe blue and goldenrod instead? Oh well!
Awesome rug, and love the setup!
cool , enfin un français dans la liste . j'adore les trois petites tables à côté du sofa et l'originalité des bandes de couleurs sur le mur.
@lepidoptery: I took it to mean that there's nothing ugly or particularly close by the building. (This based on growing up living upstairs from a French couple. Very thick accents, but once I got good at the differences in syntax, no problems!)
