Who Lives Here: Larissa Location: Cabbagetown — Atlanta, Georgia Size: 893 square feet
What is your favorite element of your Small & Cool home? The 15-foot tall ceiling and massive windows that make my place look much bigger than it actually is. I also love the original brick wall that reminds me I live in a small piece of history — they date from around 1885, when this place was a cotton mill that used to be the center of my neighborhood.

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in furnishing your Small Cool home? The biggest challenge is the fact that you practically see everything from every corner, you can even see the closet from the living room. So it took me a while to find things I loved and would look harmonious together. But I enjoyed the editing process and loved waiting for the perfect piece to show up on eBay!

White Enamel Flatwa...
pretty nice but the living room looks like everything was pushed into that one corner.
If I could give this space 10 thumbs up I would. I love this home! I could totally see myself living here. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the wall of small photos in the hallway.
Those windows are absolute divine!!! Love the couch too!
I am in love with your windows!!
Hi Larissa! Love the space... it's great to see a southern contestant! I love the exposed brick!
Love your place! And, like others mentioned the windows and that couch!
I love you couch and I love the light. I want to take your artwork and hang it 2 feet higher up on the walls to pull the eyes up!
Lovely! Where is you couch from?
@kshaw78:
The couch is the Petrie from Crate and Barrel. Same model in my apartment.
I think it is ridiculously hard to furnish a space like this, that has such muscular features, and have it hold up and still look effortless.
You've totally pulled it off.
You had me with the first pic even before I recognized the lofts. I'm not wild about the bathroom and the dining room kitchen needs more artwork or something, but the space in those first two shots is my favorite in this contest so far.
Patrick summed it up perfectly.
Don't change a thing.
Beautiful space, windows and floor envy.
In this case I don't mind the furniture all in that corner, its a nice corner with those windows and adds some intimacy.
This is a beautiful space! I love that it's in ATL as well! Where is that gorgeous picture above the couch from?
Those floors are sick, and I'm really into the plywood bathroom cabinetry situation there. I want to see a headlong shot from the kitchen to the windows. Space tease. Kudos, I give it two thumbs and a pinky.
Drooling - what a cool place - lucky you! Love your style.
Yes, that first photo is a-mazing. Love the furniture, the furniture composition, the bricks, the black and white photo, and that very cool picture light. What a stunning place.
I've been lurking on AT for months, and just HAD to sign up to vote for your loft. It is ridiculously cool! The black & white photo, the Petrie sofa (i own one, too!), huge windows, brick walls - I love everything about it!
I just moved from Atlanta, lived in Cabbagetown and then in Candler Park, and had a lot of friends who lived in these lofts. I know how hard they are to decorate, and think you did wonderfully. I like your choice of art as well. It almost speaks to the history of the place and really reminds me of being back in the south. Plus the photo does a great job of accentuating those bricks. GREAT job on the light, it looks like it matches the light source in the photo - how cool!
Thumbs up!
I love the large windows and the brick walls - just beautiful. Great use of the space, with just the perfect amount of furniture. Everything seems to have a nice touch to it, and I am impressed that even the closet is decorated. Very nice job!
I really, really love this - every piece of furniture and art in there feels exactly right.
Hey Larissa, it's fun to see a fellow Cabbagetowner on here! Nice place!
Yay for Cabbagetown! What are the rocker and the chair (on the other side of the coffee table) facing?
Larissa,
I have a friend who is moving to Atlanta and considering Downtown, midtown, Castelberry, and Cabbage Town. Any advice?
Julia
Wow. That brick in the house really ties everything together. Again, wow.
Hi everyone, thanks for the nice words and the constructive criticism. I agree my walls are still pretty bare! It takes time and money to collect art.
I couldn't log in before, but to answer a couple of questions...
The photo above the couch was taken by my talented boyfriend.
jennaudrey, the rocker and the armchair face a bench where I have the TV.
JuliaL, I lived in midtown before, but I love Cabbagetown! Castleberry Hill is pretty cool too, the lofts are more expensive there. Candler Park and Grant Park have really nice houses.
I do not AT ALL agree that your walls are bare.
One of my pet peeves is the "have it/fill it" mentality of wallspace.
And given your current taste in art, and the definite talents of your photographer boyfriend (does he have a website?), I'm sure you'll continue to make excellent choices.
this is an absolutely beautiful space. and i really like your furniture choices and their placement. wonderful!
I wish I could of voted. :-( I love your space.
hello patrick, his website is jakeherrle.com.
wow i love this so much, id live here in a heartbeat. the rug, the rocker, the platform bed, the photos pinned up in the hallway (too informal for the main room, but perfect for that little space). amazing job
