What is your favorite element of your Small & Cool home? Our favorite element is the beautiful view of Downtown Houston visible from the living and bed rooms. We placed a large mirror over the sofa in the living room to carry the view and light into the entrance. By adding a mirrored wardrobe in the bedroom we get much-needed storage and floor-to-ceiling views.

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in furnishing your Small Cool home? The biggest challenges were:
1) Getting enough storage space for two people,
2) Incorporating a home office and entertainment space,
3) showcasing artwork.
The building has great architectural details which make the space feel bigger: sliding bedroom door, cutout in the upper wall into bedroom and open living, dining (office) and kitchen. We were inspired by these elements to create a storage system in the bedroom with mirrored sliding doors. We used sliding fabric panels attached to the ceiling above the wardrobe to hide an additional storage area. The wall-to-wardrobe bookcases with white doors keep the space simple while adding storage.
The gallery-style walls accommodate some rather large paintings without over-powering the room. We used the dining area as the office and instead eat at the kitchen bar. Our Apple TV works as an entertainment center/photo gallery minimizing the need for picture frames (less clutter).

Shaw's Original Fir...
It's beautifull. I really like it. Colorfull but not too much. Except maybe the carpet in the bedroom. Love the office. Good job! :)
Love the use of artwork. Great job.
Nice. What's the source for the rug in the living room?
i LOVE your artwork and clean look. awesome job....so beautiful, really.
AMAZING! I love it.
Your air-plants look great as well. Those are my favorite accessory in a home.
A big thumbs up for showcasing the art so well!
Let me get this straight, you have two rooms with two sofas so you have four sofas? That is a lot of sofas.
Nevertheless, this is a beautiful apartment. Love the art.
yummy
LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT!
Lori SF - I think there's just 2 sofas.
This is lovely. Who is the artist of the large painting/collage in the living room (just above the Eames chair)?
GO HOUSTON! ok, now that THAT is out of my system, I can move on.
Love your place! I hope we get to see pictures of your kitchen and bath soon. Just a couple of questions:
1. Love the extra large art piece next to the gold sofa. Who is the artist?
2. Is that a pinball machine next to the bed?
3. When will I fall out of love with the ghost chair? ;)
I love your artwork and your use of color! That cushion on the sofa is super cute.
I'm intriged by the tiny white and green things on the wall above your mac, please can you tell me what they are?
Sorry typo, I meant intrigued.
Everything about this apartment is artistic!
Wow!
I also LOVE your use of color!
Is that a pachinko machine by the bed.
Crazy cool!
Absolutely beautiful, Adam! Your mirror is perfectly placed -- looks like artwork when one is looking towards the balcony. And that storage space in the bedroom -- yes, please!!
Of course, I've seen it first-hand, and it's even better in person. The lighting, the details -- it's like living in a ultra-comfortable, ultra-contemporary gallery!
Thumbs up for the pachinko machine. I collect them.
Nice...
Where is the coffee table from?
Great artwork too. Everything is well displayed.
I've seen that desk in a few places and would really like to know where its from . . .
ah, never mind, jonathan adler. le sigh. I'd have to sell my kidney.
I love everything about your place EXCEPT for that mirror in front of the bed.
those rugs are amazing. anyone know if they are kidney selling priced or not?
and also, way to represent texas! we dont all have deer heads hanging above the fireplace after all. who knew?
I. LOVE. IT. And I love that you're from Houston. I'm trying to guess what part of town you're in based on the view of downtown from your balcony. (Montrose?) I love your choice of artwork. There isn't a specific theme which is great. I'm surprised, though, by your choice of bedspread!
this entry is almost unfair because the artwork really makes the space.
you have such a good eye. eveything really seems to be in the perfect place
love love love! wanna know where you got everything!
Houston, we are fashionable and tasteful in our city. So glad we're representin'
Amazing that pics #1 and #5 are the same room!
A pachinko machine next to the bed gets a thumbs up from me!
Could you share your wall colors? thanks
Gorgeously put together!!! Your place looks amazing!
I love your place except for the bedroom. It seems way duller than the rest of your place.
Not one but TWO sofas? Your place must be the *the* place to hang out.
Adam 1, thanks for bringing great stuff like this to Houston.
the flat looks fantastic - must admit the art is making it very sophisticated!
i think - because your living room is quite long and narrow, instead of the coffee table you have now, it might be a lot better to have round ones, it would make the space look bigger and more flexible. some examples of round tables:

I like everything in this home except for the rug in the bedroom. It seems very out of place.
I am so chuffed to have such a fantastic place to stay when I visit Houston! Bravo!
can somebody tell me where to get the sofa ?? this is a space i could defo spend some time in , think it could be one of my all time faves !!
sorry the white one !
i adore the rug in the bedroom! it gives an unexpected delight to my eyes!
edlovesvintage, it's the Petrie sofa from Crate and Barrel.
thanks a million See !!
I have always loved those twisty carved wooden tables from Africa... but I couldn't think of how to use one. I LOVE it paired with that blue pot!
the 'rug' in the bed room is a tapestry by the Venezuelan tribe wayuu and meant to be on the wall

great job guys! it looks beautiful
Thanks for all of your great feedback on our apartment. Please keep voting for me in the next round!
First, we have to give huge credit to our friend and brilliant photographer, Katya Horner.
Here's an attempt at answering some of your questions.
- The rug in the living room is from Crate & Barrell, but it is not in production anymore.
- The round "rugs" in the bedroom and office are actually tapestries. As pointed out in other comments, they are 1950's Pop-Art tapestries by Luis Montiel (b.1934, Venzuela).
- The large painting in the living room is by Seth Alverson.
- It is a Pachinko Machine next to the bed. This model is from the early 1960's and has a built-in spring-loaded ashtray!
- The wall installation above the desk in the office is origami butterflies. We made them.
- The coffee table is also a vintage piece. The base is chrome and the top is white Carrara.
- The matching side tables and desk are from the Channing collection by Jonathan Adler.
- The white sofa is the Petrie from Crate & Barrell. The brown sofa is the Stefan by Mitchell Gold Bob Williams. It is out of production, but can still be ordered from MG BW.
- The apartment building is located in Houston's Museum District. There are fifteen museums within walking distance. Our view is North towards Downtown Houston.
Be sure to remind your friends to VOTE!!
Thanks for all of the great feedback.
Sincerely,
Adam
So sad this place was eliminated. In my opinion it really is a standout. The art is incorporated in such an interesting way and it has just the right amount of Texas (the horns and cactus). Looks great.
Hi Adam,
What is the name of that painting by Seth Alverson?
Thanks
Hi Adam,
I love what you guys have done with your limited space..
Very beautiful and stylish:)
If I may, I wanted to ask you which part of downtown Houston your place is..I am looking for a place in the $900-1000 a month rent price range..I am taking any and all suggestions from people :)
