What is your favorite element of your Small & Cool home? Two things stand out: Since it's an 1894 Victorian, the house has a lot of very cool old features and details. Craftsmanship. You can tell that a lof of care and attention were put into putting this house together. And location. We're right downtown, sheltered from the sprawl. Walking distance to everything we care about.

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in furnishing your Small Cool home? We move a lot, so it's important we have furnishings that work in a variety of spaces and are easy to move. And since we rent, we can't put a lot of money into renovating, so our stuff has to be fairly adaptable.

wow - what a sweet place - i really love the bedroom and the kitchen. the billiard room looks totally alien to the place - but it's a wonderful surprise!
Very lovely home, although I would have chosen a different rug for the living room (maybe something lighter in color). I especially LOVE your game room, but I'm curious as to whether you have enough room to actually play pool. Isn't it a little tight?
I was on the fence until I saw your kitchen. Adorable!
I LOVE, love, love the billard room. It is such a surprise, but so decadent! It's perfect in that little space. I am also slightly obsessed with that kitchen hutch!

Pool table = easy to move and works in a variety of spaces?
lol :-)
I just adore your "kitchy" kitchen. Never realized how that pale blue works with all the colorful dishes and linens.
The kitchen is adorable!
I agree with 'creative license'...I think a different rug (and perhaps throw pillows) could make a huge difference in the living room. I adore the kitchen though.
Your kitchen is so fun.
lovely kitchen!
Kitchen cuteness is wonderful, but how odd is it to have the entry room be your bedroom? I think I would have to switch the gameroom and bedroom, despite the closet. I'd rather skip into another room for clothing than have folks enter through my bedroom.
Fun kitchen!
Love all the light that flows through the windows. Everything is just wonderful. The green filing cabinet is great too.
@mjr: I was thinking the same thing! LOL!!
I do admit, the billiard room was a complete surprise, but I wish I had room for something like that in a small space. Well done.
Too cute, love how a dumb, old, most likely apt-disgusting type kitchen can be made to look very retro, stylish and inviting, both to cook in and for guests to hang out. You have really accented the old world original charm that came with the place.
But the bedroom walls are cream, and the kitchen is practically sky blue! Marcia P. banned those colors!
Totally agree with the above posters...LOVE your sweet and slightly retro kitchen. And I agree that a more colourful rug and some throw pillows would definitely give the living room a bit more character!
P.S. That kitchen chandelier is super! Where ever did you get it??
I love, love, love this place! The red chandelier really stands out in that kitchen - I would not change a thing. The entire place looks so welcoming and comfy.
Your kitchen is soooo darling!
Oh, that kitchen. Oh goodness gracious, I am not going to be able to close this tab. I'm in love.
However I think I HAVE to close it before my man sees the pool-table and gets any funny ideas about going without a bed or something ;o)
The billiard room looks so warm and inviting.
Very nice. Does it have a fireplace?
Wow, thanks for all the nice comments, everyone! You had some questions. 1. Yes, there are two fireplaces, and one of them actually works. 2. LOL on the "mobility" of the pool table. It's the landlord's -- we're "storing" it for him, so we had to figure out a way to work around it and use the space. And surprisingly, there is room to play. It's a little tight on some shots, but not too bad. 3. I made the chandelier myself. Got a junky brass one for $10 at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore and spraypainted it red. 4. The entry doesn't open into the bedroom. There's a hallway between them. Bad drawing! 5. We're looking for better throw pillows -- anyone have any good ideas?
Thanks again -- Adrienne and Mike
Great job. I'm not sure I understand the floor plan though. The photos looks like there is a bay window in the bedroom but I don't understand where it is on the plan. I'll give you a thumbs up for the kitchen, plus it would be great to have a Colorado winner. We need to show AT that there is more to the USA than just the east/west coasts and Chicago. I feel the middle of the country as well as the south are ignored on AT. Thanks for representing Colorado and doing it well!
That's hilarious about the landlord. I hope he's paying you a storage fee!!!!!
Thanks, dmstudio! There is a bay window in the bedroom, but whoever drew the floor plan forgot to include it. It might have been me.
Love your space..I just wanna tumble into your bed! love the lighting!
