What is your favorite element of your Small & Cool home? What I really love about my apartment is that it is totally a reflection of me. I didn't want to have to buy things to serve a quick storage purchase, nor did I want to get anything too specific to this apartment, as I rent. I wanted furnishings and accessories that I truly loved, and that I knew I would have for years to come.

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in furnishing your Small Cool home? I am a person who just likes "things" and if I had 10,000 square feet to fill up, I could easily do so. I really wanted to make sure I got in the things I liked without being engulfed by them — a very large dresser, a hope chest, and concealed storage under my sewing machine help me keep necessities out of sight and keep the apartment a clutter-free (and hopefully calming) place to be.

White Enamel Flatwa...
Simple, but lovely!
I love this so much, especially the vintage sewing machine. The space is cozy and charming while still feeling light and uncluttered.
oh i want to see the kitchen!!
If you love stuff, you would never know it because you have edited beautifully! Serene.
Such classic style. Very elegant.
I'm with letsbereal. Where's the kitchen? Otherwise, I think it's really lovely. Simple yet elegant.
Oh so authentic. Great use of space, great use of light textures and neutral colors to mix with your antiques. Awesome.
oh man, this is just beautiful. the curtains make it look like the bedroom and office are beautifully curated art exhibits.
fantastic use of the layout. i like this but feel the couch area could be more welcoming...i think its the rug actually. a bigger one that goes a bit under the sofa and chairs would make the area feel more inclusive and cohesive. Anyway, I digress. I'm jealous of your sleeping area and love the little bedside table you rigged up! Overall, beautiful and calm.
I love the simplicity, very classy. The sleeping alcove looks perfect for a restful night's sleep, said the insomniac!
This is absolutely lovely. I do agree with gibbler than the couch area doesn't flow as well, but I adore the bed/study alcoves.
Very nice place.
I love this. The apartment has a great layout. Wow, you can probably have 2 bedroom alcoves, if you wanted. Super cute space, thanks for sharing.
Loving it!
Totally not my style but I love this one! There's something about it that reminds me of a very cozy bed and breakfast some where warm. I adore your sleeping alcove! Looks like the perfect nook to curl up in with a duvet and a good book!
Loving the curtains!
very cute place, and great use of space. the corkboard is awesome!
Yummy! I love seeing light, flirty, feminine places with traditional touches on AT.
You did a wonderful job of creating storage and using space wisely. The subdued colors on the walls really open up the space and make it look a lot larger. Also, I love the metal chair and wondered where you purchased it.
Love the use of soothing colors and texture.
Thank you everyone for your kind comments!
thatgirlnetty - it is called the "Prague chair" - if you search it, it'll pop up on various sites - but it's a bit pricey for what it is (too much so for me anyway)! I found the same exact one in a Long Island secondhand store (Deeks Anteeks) for $18! Thanks!
Also love the "bed alcove" and "dressing room" concepts, makes me think of A Pattern Language again. I like the idea of keeping the sleeping area and dressing area separate--too often bedrooms are forced to be both, resulting in a "floordrobe" when I don't stay on top of tidying up! Talk about chaotic instead of calming. Love the relaxing atmosphere here.
except for the rug being too small, this is one of my favorites
Lovely in many respects, and a great use of this particular layout. THe ottoman/stool/whatever really bothers me; unmoored from another piece or a wall, it looks like awkward space filler. Nice palette for the room, too. Almost forgot: the arrangement of framed pieces of the wall separatin living from kitchen is really nicely done. Spare but rich and satisfying.
Love the wide plank hardwood floors. I am obsessed with this apartment.
I have the sofa that matches your loveseat. Kinda funny it's in the same competition category. Your place looks great.
