What is your favorite element of your Small & Cool home? My favorite element of my space would have to be the tiled fireplace. It was a full 3 day project that resulted in a great focal point in the front room.

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in furnishing your Small Cool home? One of the biggest challenges in furnishing my space was trying to modernize the space but also keep it with a touch of contemporary. Because the space had pre-existing wooden trim that kept the space a little more traditional looking, I had to find a way to modernize it but also incorporate a sense of flow.
In the end the furniture and color scheme helped unite the space. By adding pops of accent colors through all the different areas of the space, I was able to create a sense of unity and flow from one space to the next.

great job on that fireplace. really like the dark floors and paint choice of the walls....looks rich. it's a shame you had to mount the tv onto the fireplace (covering all your hard labor), but i understand with small spaces, you gotta do what you gotta do! awesome pad. ps. love that bar!
Love the floors. Did you use deck paint? If so, what shades? I'm eager to do deck paint in my own place, where I have a mix of hardwood floors and some icky plastic (that could be replaced with hardwood) in the kitchen. If you could offer some tips, I'd be eternally grateful.
Also, love the color of your walls. It's just beautiful.
I see someone is a big fan of CB2 as well!
Man, this place rocks! The shades of grey are cool and sleek, especially the floors. The splashes of color and prints seem to float on an open sea. Nice Job!
I def agree that you've united the space thru your color scheme - which I LOVE, btw!
Congrats on the HUGE fireplace project, it looks great!
Nicely done but I find some of the elements a bit generic, especially the kitchen with its granite counter tops and basic white cabinets although they may be a step up from el cheapo of similar design, the floors are wonderful and I like how they ground the space but for me, a little too much gray/black/white.
I'm not sure I like the black TV on top of the black and white tiled fireplace, especially when the fire box insert is also black, just doesn't work as well as it should IMO.
A bit more color, a little less gray, otherwise, you are on the right track here but if it were me, I'd go more modern than what is shown here as the trim would've worked just as well in a more mod setting.
Nice place; I'm always a sucker for black, white, and chrome.
Just my opinion, but it seems a little "sharp". You might try bringing in a little natural wood (like a piece of furniture) to tone down the metallic bite.
Have you thought about painting the trim and air vent the same color as the walls?
wow. and i thought my place was gray.
I love this place. It is neat to see all of this CB2 outside of the catalog. With my law student budget and schedule, I am pretty limited in terms of where I buy furniture so its exciting to see some of my pieces in such a cool place.
I want to see the bedroom!
Where are those shelves he's got in the bathroom? Above the toilet? And the mouthwash container? Are all of these from CB2?
LOVEEE this small place! I see a peek of the wallpaper in the next room! i love it! Is it the bedroom???
Another thing, what floor is that? I'm not sure but it looks a lot like kvist from Ikea. Let us know!
All together now...cb2.
You have great sensibility...good job on the space. I happen to work at the CB2 on Sunset so I quite possibly helped you purchase all of this loveliness! You managed to do your own thing with every piece and manage not to have your place resemble a showroom...and I loved your use of the tree holder!
The spaces on either side of the fireplace are quite cluttered - so is the credenza in the dining area...
Chrome and glass is fine, but there's so much of it here that the place feels harsh and cold - It lacks wood, texture and warmth.
You've done an amazing job with your place! it would be cool to see the before pictures! Major Thumbs Up!
Modern yet livable and comfortable.. well done!
My favorite is the dark espresso floor and the fireplace. I love the contrast!
Great interior design for the space! Very calming and a great place to come home to
i like it except for ONE thing.
WHY do people put the Tv above the fireplace AND place it so high up?
No one wants to have a kinked neck!
First off, thank you all for such beautiful compliments and suggested feedback! I truly appreciate all the positive feedback.
re: Coletta - WHY do people put the Tv above the fireplace AND place it so high up?
No one wants to have a kinked neck!
Actually the TV isn't that high in comparison to where the couch is located, so no kinked necks apply! :)
I think there's plenty of texture and warmth, I can picture the place at sunset with the candles lit..lovely! And props for the bar/storage. Nice touch! Love that you had space to incorporate that!
I like it.....I like it alot. I would agree with a previous post that the granite is a bit pedestrian. You should look at carbonne caeserstone as another option. Recycled, about the same price as a grade two granite, and absolutely gorgeous.
what's wrong with cb2. i think it looks amazing.
I love it your place! I live in LA too and it's nice to see how other's decorate! I love the paint color, I'm looking for a blue/grey like that myself!
Hot dang!!! Cute!
