What is your favorite element of your Small & Cool home? There are a few elements I love about my place, but I would have to say my walk-in closet honestly! There are so many beautiful, vintage buildings here in LA that have gorgeous little apartments, but they tend to seriously lack in the closet space department. That pretty much sold me on this place because with only a tiny room to live in and try to keep functional storage is always a challenge. Even with my walk-in my shoes have still spilled over into the built-in vanity area, also a favorite element!

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in furnishing your Small Cool home? My biggest challenge was the layout! I was coming from a larger apartment and I also saw this apartment while it was still furnished by the previous tenant, who had done a very nice job but was a single guy with a very minimalist style and small scale furniture items. Me, not so much! So once I got all of my furniture in there it took me a while to make it all work. I also had a few things to still buy such as my desk, which was a bit of a risk because it's a very large desk that could be tricky in such a tight room, but I really wanted that desk so I made it work! I just measured everything and took my time when it came to buying new things. It took well over a year before it all came together satisfactorily, and there are still a few things I have on my list to add, when I find the right pieces. I also got rid of things from my old place that did not work for my new place. My most helpful resources are flea markets, Craigslist, Target and Ikea of course!

i really like the exposed brick. imo, i wouldn't hang artwork on this wall as it is difficult to focus on those small pieces of artwrk you have hanging....so much going on. i would let the brick speak for itself. also, the hanging shear curtain seems unnecessary and looks out of place. although i understand you want seperation, lets face it, in this space, you don't really have it.
thank you for sharing your home...love the HUGE closet!
love it. you have tons of books!
yay! a space that looks like someone actually LIVES here. i love it's vintage charm!
I like the exposed brick wall....a nice feature..but yet I cant understand why people choose to live in such teeny tiny spaces...and its not like these small apts in Los Angeles are going for cheap.
You clearly like magazines as much as I like magazines. :)
Anyone know where the bed linen is from?
the exposed walls don't look real. are they?

I want to copy the drapes in the bedroom, but I have no idea how I would go about suspending them from the ceiling. I see you have a cord of some sort stretching between two walls, but how is it secured there?
Love the brick, the Flirt sign, the bedspread (anthropologie??), the clothes on the dress form. You kept it charming and it fits the apartment.
Looks like West Elm, PurpleNails.

I love that even though it is tiny you still have a great bed and didn't compromise on something tiny, small and out of the way.
It looks very lived in and I like that it isn't completely polished, it looks like a real person lives there. It looks warm and i feel like I get a sense of you from the design.
Great job
Love this apartment! You have a very creative side and it shows! I would not change anything about it.
Super cute! I love it! Hope you win!
Ahh, it's like a breath of fresh air to me! And it looks like an actual person lives there!
And I really don't agree with the first comment, I think you did a wonderful job with the pieces you hung on the brick, the brick makes a great backdrop. And the sheer curtains make perfect sense to me, I honestly wouldn't change a thing!
Me LOVES!!!

Dope spot Nico!

Fabulous job, Nicole. Really classy without feeling pretentious or cold. Your bed in particular is glamorous and inviting. Nice find on the headboard1
And I do believe the bedspread is Anthropologie's or West Elm's. But does anyone have DIY instructions for making one of those?!
Titi loves it , perfect just for me .... to get away :-)
Nickie, your apt> is beautiful. I love the way u have it set up. Good luck in the contest. I hope U win.
Thank you everyone for the sweet comments :)
@PurpleNails: Bed linen is from West Elm!
@Rosaleen: Lol, yes the brick is most def real!
@Sarasara: Thanks! I just used clear fishing line, screw hooks and tied knots on each end! The curtains are from Ikea.
@Pechoca: Found this gem of a building in K-Town, it's one of those old hotel buildings with the neon signs you mostly see in Hollywood and Weho!
xoxo, Nicole
Still my fav!
