Who Lives Here: Rebecca Location: Williamsburg — Brooklyn, NYC Size: 555 square feet
What is your favorite element of your Small & Cool home? My favorite element would have to be my dining area. I'm probably the last person to find out about Herman Miller, but I just fell in love with the clean lines and versatility of the 36" round table and the Eames chairs. The tall mirror and shiny sideboard are probably my favorite IKEA purchases and give this area of the living space a center and a bit of bling, while adding height and depth to the area. Also, I designed the rug out of FLOR tiles, the orange with the purple boarder reminds me of my childhood for some reason.

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in furnishing your Small Cool home? I would have to say the biggest challenge has been my budget. There are so many things that I have wanted to do with this new condo, but I have really had to plan it out, do a lot of research both internet and on foot, and reign myself in. Because my budget has been small, I really got to be creative about mixing in more expensive items with IKEA, vintage store purchases, and eBay purchases. There is a great "prop" store not too far from my apartment where I spent hours to find a really inexpensive dresser, side table, and lamp which I was happy to mix in with my new purchases. Designing on a budget has also introduced me to painting, and while it can be a lot of work, it makes the apartment seem so much more warm and finished than the original wall color.

Shaw's Original Fir...
this place is just adorable!
i love, love, love this! Fabulous job, Rebecca! i think its my favorite of all so far because its attainable and also very similar to how I would like to execute my apartment. my one thought is above the couches...i love the star clock but it seems lonely. on the other hand, i love that you have had a restrained hand and not filled the place with clutter so adding much over the couch might betray that. either way, LOVE THIS PLACE!
Love it!
i love green!
Nicely done!
Great job! Love it!
Beautiful place. Love that Rebecca isn't scared of paint. Brilliant use of light furniture (for larger pieces) vs dark floors color! All really work well to make a small place seem open.
i don't think i would love that green wall just anywhere. it works really nicely <3 love it.
Really good!
It's sophisticated!
Great job. The kitchen looks great, I wish we could see more! Is it marble? Anyway, that wall with dark and green combination, the framed poster, floating shelves, metal lamp... I love every single detail in that picture.
Woo! Orange and Purple and Mint Green? Your childhood must have been in the 80s!
Great home, very cute.
Love the colors. Cohesive, charming, sophisticated. Nice job.
again, love the color. that green translates so well!
I'm sorry to be the single voice of dissent, but I really don't get these colors. Mint green next to navy next to beige with a big red and purple rug? And lost in the middle of all this... a beautiful marble accent column, sleek stainless countertops and those big gorgeous windows. I'm all for color, but I don't think this works. To add construction to my criticism; I like green, I would pick a cleaner shade of green though, something not so mint chocolate chip. Your living room rug is beautiful. I love the lines of the dresser, maybe since it was inexpensive you can paint it?
Wow! I love that green. I'm not sure I personally could "live" with it permanently, but it looks just beautiful in your living room.
Other than the obvious lovely elements you have added, I love love your apron!! Where is it from?
thanks! i just realized what i need for a dining area!
love the aqua/mint. i just painted by bathroom the same color. i did beige/gray like your bedroom in the hall too -- great minds!
Yes! Lovely colors!
Great mix of edited design but also patterns. Really like your cozy little place!
Fab place!
where are the sofa & chair from??
I would totally live here...
What artist made that print above the microwave? It's pretty cool!
Your place looks great! I like the combination of bold color and restrained accents. I'd love to know where the gray dining room chairs are from?
Cute!
This place is so cute and cozy.
So pretty. Isn't the starburst clock hung a little high?
