What is your favorite element of your Small & Cool home? My favourite elements of my space include the openness between my kitchen and living room, my original clawfoot tub that I resurfaced and painted red, the exposed brick in my closet. and my big cedar balcony!

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in furnishing your Small Cool home? The space was originally quite dark and compartmentalized. To open the space up I decided to move the kitchen form the back on the building to the front, knock down a wall and shorten another one. I built a "peninsula" bar with tiled counter top to act as an eating space / extra prep area / media location. To brighten the space, along with shortening the wall, I installed a front door with a full length window in it and removed the roof over the front balcony to greatly improve the amount of natural light that enters the space. I did the design and labour work myself using materials from Home Depot.
