What is your favorite element of your Small & Cool home? The open floor plan and high ceilings give the apartment an illusion of space - and both have forced us to be creative about defining separate and unique areas all the while maintaining a consistent design aesthetic throughout.

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in furnishing your Small Cool home? The biggest challenge was figuring out how to define separate and unique areas - or "rooms" - within the open floor plan. We played around a lot with different layout options, got rid of some furniture and bought some new things. We wanted each space to feel unique and comfortable, but without walls, we really had to define a consistent aesthetic throughout: that the whole would be as comfortable and visually pleasing as each of its parts. In this endeavor, we drew some inspiration from Dwell and old issues of Domino, and a great many design blogs...
