Small Cool 2010: Sean's Small Space, Big View

Little Division # 1

Who Lives Here: Sean
Location: Detroit, Michigan
Size: 625 square feet

What is your favorite element of your Small & Cool home? The view of the Fisher Building is what sold me on such a small space. Having grown up in the Midwest, where space is relatively cheap, I'm not sure if I could survive a small space if not for a big view.

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in furnishing your Small Cool home? As I live in Michigan, where many of the mid-century modern items I covet were designed and/or manufactured, I have access to lots of cool furniture. Living in 625 square feet however; I do not have space for all that I would like to own. I guess that having to edit and covet less out of necessity has been the biggest challenge but it has also been a great lesson.

Another challenge has been that a sunroom makes up about 100 square feet of my home. The sunroom is surrounded by windows so that makes it challenging to store thing with not real wall space.

Admittedly, I am fortunate to have a large office at work and very forgiving girlfriend who has made space for some of my credenzas and chairs in her home.
