Who Lives Here: Steve Location: Surry Hills — Sydney, Australia Size: 650 square feet
What is your favorite element of your Small & Cool home? I like the way the black floors replicate the dark charred embers of my soul, how their lack of reflection in fact reflects the troubled times in which we live, and how they are easy to clean.

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in furnishing your Small Cool home? The resource I found most helpful was Apartment Therapy. By following my own instructions, pouring over my own photos and utilizing my own list of suppliers, I was able to make my Small Cool home almost exactly like my House Tour of February 2009. There are a few small differences, which shame me, but overall the two look almost identical.

Z2 iPod Dock and Wi...
I totally remember seeing this place before on AT... though I can't remember if it was also another contest or house tour, either way, I'm voting YES! Want it.
LOL@ favorite element. I like this. The windows are awesome. The controlled chaotic cohesion is brilliant.
It feels too much like a modernized dorm room to me. I think changing the color of the walls would go a long way for changing that association, for the better.
Among my top 10 favorite interiors I have ever seen on AT.
Slick. In a good way.
I love the ikea Udden kitchen, its even cooler now that it is discontinued. very well done, different too.
FINALLY something that's actually cool and unique! My first thumbs up this year!
Two thumbs up for the most entertaining questionnaire answers.
This is really fun-looking.
I actually laughed out loud when I read the questionnaire answers! Sarcasm will always get me, it's my nationality I think ;o)
The apt looks like an art gallery, or an awesome catalog picture. It's stupid - in the best way possible!
the only thing missing in this showroom is the price tag for each item.
btw, please find another spot for the arco lamp. you should show its entire sexiness...
Yeah!!! not my house, but is a very good balance to the new trends (I´m seeing too many rooms that reminds me of an old aunt, with style, but yet an old aunt fond of floral patterns).
And of course, the right answers. If only the soul was that easy to clean too..
Dark, strange, a little twisted- don't know quite why, but I like it.
I get dorm room vibes too. Not my taste.
Correct me if i am wrong, but this apartment is in an old warehouse on Bourke St?
Regardless while it may be counterproductive to give thumbs up to another international division contestant I have been a big fan of this since i saw it last year. Well done.
OH, and a big thumbs up to prioritising your kick-ass home theatre above other decoration choices. I tried to do the same but got over-ruled by my sister whom considers a black TV in the centre of a white wall an eyesore.
And from the charred embers of your soul has arisen a triumphant ROYGBV Phoenix, molting all over your small, cool space.
Though I'd take that is black and turn it white, I dig the pops of color. This earn a thumbs up just for intriguing me.
Hello everybody!
My name is Betty and I am coming from GREECE! I am reading AT since September and I love it!
This apartment was the reason to create today for the first time an account and post my comment:
I find it really inspiring and wonderful!
I fell in love with it! The colors, the objects, the lightning, the windows (OMG! the color is so cool!)
It is small cool and creative!
Is this apartment rental/ If no, then it explains more why it is so fabulous!
Cheers!
Truly fantastic! Tell me where i can find some of the artwork or something similar to them? i Love it!
Amazing!
Can I move in? ;)
Dude, your sense of humor is my favorite element so thumbs up!
It's practical, personal, and has a great sense of theatre.
I totally love this! Does anyone know anything about the cat print?
The layout is great, but I can't dig all the black. It looks like a nightclub the day after a party.
I remember this from last year. I don't think anything has changed in the space at all...
way too dark for me. i would not want to hang out here at all.
Not really my style, but for some reason I like it...maybe because it reminds me of clubbing back in my younger days...
i want this home!
...in a "strange" way!
Now there's a person I'd like to meet! The apartment -- not my thing, but I appreciate how cohesive and true to itself (and apparently, the dark embers of Steve's soul) it is. Thumbs up!
Your apartment has great bones, those enormous windows and the outlook onto that lovely tree are definite assets. The decor in this incarnation is challenging but lots of fun, definitely non-nanna. I also really enjoyed your self-deprecating and existentialist comments. A really unexpected and different entry.
Love the way the colors pop, and the great use of space! I also like how much storage space you were able to create with the cabinets without really adding storage furniture to the room. Only thing is that floors seem hard to keep clean, ever thought about switching to wood? ;)
Steve,
You so deserved to get further in this competition than the first head to head. Yours was one of the few totally original, creative, clever homes. If it was up to me, mate, you'd be through to the finals.
