Who Lives Here: Teresa Location: Neartown — Houston, Texas Size: 527 square feet
What is your favorite element of your Small & Cool home? I love the use of color — blues and greens — against a white background. My collection of silk throw pillows in these colors enables me to unify the space. These color choices seem to evoke a sense of relaxation and peacefulness from visitors.

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in furnishing your Small Cool home? I had to pair everything down to elements that I love — whether it is for quality, color or function. I moved from a house to this apartment and I was forced to get rid of stuff! I continue to do that and I am amazed at how much can be done to improve function in each area while maintaining aesthetics. I get inspired by people living in extremely small spaces-under 250 square feet. I devour articles on this sort of thing.

love the minimalist approach to the design of your apartment.
curious whether the glow in the corner of the living room is all from the floor lamp, or whether there's a windchime hanging above it to create the little flecks of light?
Full of light! Question..what is the quote above the dishes all about? You got be curious!
I like how you arranged your furniture slightly off-kilter rather than straight up against the walls. Very smart.
I'm also curious about that quote. Spill the beans!
Teresa, I love love love your color palette. Great job!
Everything is so crisp! I love it!
quote? lamp?
Beautiful! You get my thumbs up!
Where is that lamp from?
This belongs on HGTV, amazing!
so bright. love it!
Oh, yes, please tell us about that quote!
Like your place, so bright and airy - and I always love to see turquoise at work ;o)
Pare-ing things down might help you get rid of stuff, but "pairing" things will only double it. (Either way, kudos on the cool, small space.)
I really like the general feel of the place; airy, colorful and spare without feeling like a catalog-- and i think that isn't always easy.
I like the letter-thing in the kitchen too..
But I do feel the green and turquoise are too coordinated I think the kitchen-living room is ok but I would draw the line at the same colors coming up in the bathroom and bedroom too. Maybe swap out the green or the turquoise for those two rooms and add a different color that is only in those spaces if you want it all to match?
I think it looks great but what is up with the quote on the wall ??
1. Hah! I love the smart-alecky comment on my 'pairing' faux pas. Imagine my discomfort at discovering my error, immediately after being so excited to see my pics posted.
Beautifully stated and corrected dzwinkler!
2. The lamp is a simple glass base and shade (don't remember where it came from) but above it is a string of LED lights. The effect makes me a little dizzy and I confuse the most basic words.....
3. The quote above my dishes is a piece of art. The artist collected real letters people donated and put them on ordinary objects (this one is actually a doormat). Exactly. It spoke to me as the letter and the object.
4. As far as the colors being too coordinated....word....I can agree. That is what the red pillow is for! It is the foil against the repetition of blue and green, green and blue, blue green blue and more blue and green.
I don't really like furniture on an angle, but I had to give you a thumb's up anyway. Your color scheme is beautiful. I adore the living room especially. Love all the white with the pops of color.
The floor matt hanging in your kitchen is touching. Is that from an actual letter?
Not sure about the angled furniture, I think if you're going to do that it has to be at the 45 degree mark, but I love your bright colours against white.
I love the living room especially that white chair. Where is that from?
Love the letter art in the kitchen and the sexy guitar.
Love the brightness and colorfulness of your apartment! The bathroom is very charming and I love your old suitcase! The walls are a bit institutional white and bare for my taste, but it looks great with all your decor and furniture!
