What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in furnishing your Small Cool home? Getting furniture up the elevator or stairs of the building was the biggest issue. A sectional was the only option, and even doing that was a stretch. A good ol' measuring tape can be tricky, especially when dealing with the ins and outs of taking furniture up 6 flights of stairs (nothing would fit in the elevator). Viking Commercial kitchen appliances — nightmare!

Howard Butcher Bloc...
so jealous of the floor, your kitchen, and that dining table!
Love the subway tiles and the sparkling clean kitchen.
Gorgeous.
Beautiful!
Where can i find the same window treatment you have in the livingroom?
Really, really nice. I love the blues and overall it has a very homey feel.
Nice job.
Looks like the pain of getting the furniture/appliances in was worth it:)
Does that orchid in the hallway get any sunlight? I ask because I would like to put one in my hallway.
Lovely! I love the subway tiles and black cabinet handles in the kitchen. Even the washer and dryer look shiny and glamorous!
That couch looks like a great place to sink into at the end of the day. Do you mind sharing the make/model?
Love those chunky baseboards. Nice job hiding the radiator and incorporating the long low storage. Me likey.
I really like your kitchen. All the color choices are great. Where is the couch from? I am looking for a linen-y slip covered sofa. Thanks!
Love the feel of the place. PLease can you tell me which paint you used in the entryway and your bedroom?
Gorgeous. Kitchen looks lovely and very functional.
Love that kitchen.
Utilitarian AND pretty.
Great backsplash. Love the sink.
Ooooooh! Looooove. That sure doesn't look like your typical NYC apartment. I bet it's a wonderful oasis to come home to.
i too love the floors and the dining table....and the couch, it looks so comfy.
kitchen is a showstopper. but the colors and art make it homey and cool. everything looks so finished....and that window!
Nice place. The couch does look comfy. The area under the TV looks a bit messy though.
not my style..too many big screen tvs....and the gray wall paint is too dark.
There must be dog and cat actors all over the place who for a decent fee make appearances on the sofa, soft fluffy beds or just walk past the kitchen in people's apartments and I just can imagine they are asking 'What is my motivation here? Make your apartment look cute, warm or both?" Occasionally they do action shots on top of shelves, or surprised close up which I am sure they charge more.
This looks like a really comfy, yet stylish home. Seems like a great place to curl up with a cup of tea and a good book. Love it. Love, love, love.
Very inviting place, nice floors, kitchen is super, and the fireplace is great!!! I'm really having difficulty relating some of the pictures to the floor plan...not sure where the entrance is and which space is the kitchen. As long as you know where everything is, it OK :).
This is so pretty. I love the use of white throughout - something I have really been enjoying lately. It looks cozy and comfortable but also crisp and uncluttered. And I like that the living room isn't centered around a TV. Nice job!
I'm giving you a thumbs up on the kitchen alone.
Thanks for the comments.
Some answers to questions posed:
Sofa is from ABC. Linen slipcovers on a sectional that has many variations - - 4th floor of NYC flagship store -- http://www.abchome.com/furniture/sectionals/tabid/361/productId/635/Default.aspx
Orchids get rotated pretty regularly and especially love being in the bathroom where there is both natural sunlight and moisture.
All of the paints, including the dark colors which some like and some don't, are from Benjamin Williams. Slate is the dark one, Ice is the light color in the lounge. The blue/gray in the master BR is a name that escapes me but is also BM. If you're in NYC, Gracious Homes sells small jars of sample colors that are a big help.
The window shades are from The Shade Store (online and in Soho).
I agree that the "under TV area" is still being developed. Likely to remove the table all together and have an old leather club chair in it's place.
Great place - So bright, airy and spacious!
nice, comfortable looking
Doors on those built-in cabinets under the living room windows would go a long way bringing the total sense of calm you have everywhere else into that room. And still keep the spirit of the original space. A nit-pick, though, since overall the place is really lovely and livable (and I am biased against open storage most of the time).
Your kitchen is pretty great. Love the subway tile backsplash.
The colors are perfect.
The space is well thought-out and very inviting.
You need some fabulous showpiece light fixture for your dining room.
My sole complaint is TV in the bedroom, but that's just my personal beef.
Im in love with everything about this apartment! the sofa, the dining table, the colors... Thumbs up!
ooo looooove the kitchen subway tiles, am totally jealous.
It looked sophisticated, but still warm and inviting and relaxed.
great!
Can I dogsit? Please? That's, like, the best curl up on the with the dogs couch ever. I love the subway tile in the kitchen too.
Washer and dryer! Dogs!
Love the floors, too.
