Color Inspiration: I wanted to use bright, modern, but girly colors and shapes. Being an artist and an art teacher, I thought it would be great to feature original black and white artwork for the baby to look at, and to contrast with the corals, pinks, and mustard yellows.

Tip For Using Color: In order to tie a new color into the overall color scheme, I usually repaint a few items around the room in that shade.
Colors Used: Behr paint + primer: cool lava 180B-5
yellow gold 360D-6 with a little black added in to make it more of a mustard color.

thanks guys! It was MUCH easier to paint just a section of the walls, and since I did it while I was 8 1/2 months pregnant, that was all I could handle. Yes, the bookcase is IKEA, and the drawer/boxes are from Target.

this is an amazing room! love the mobile, and love how you've taken a small, square space and made it fun and interesting (and even created the illusion of architectural elements) with the pink on the walls.

Katie, i looked at everyones rooms and the reason why i love yours so much is because it doesnt look anything like anyone elses. You are completely unique and have such a neat creative personal twist on everything you do, that brands itself as yours. You can see something and just know "thats katie" - you are a true designer. I cant stop staring at this picture, it is just the cutest room i have ever seen for a kid katie im not kidding. I love you so much and i know olivia will love and appreciate it when shes old enough to appreciate more than milk and a ceiling fan! xoxoxo
