Thanks in part to the economy, small is in. Gone are the days of maximum space and over-indulging. Small spaces are where it's at and you know how much we love to love them! One room we honestly don't mind being teeny tiny — the bedroom.
The cozier the better in most cases. We love being all bundled in bed and feeling like we're in our own little world. Small spaces make that feeling much more achievable and well, a lot easier to decorate! If a bedroom is small enough to only fit a bed, two side tables and one dresser — that eliminates so much stuff you no longer have to worry about.
If you think about it, small sleeping spaces can actually be kind of freeing. What do you think?

I really like all of these rooms. Especially the last one with the doors. Seems so cozy.
I never really saw the point of a huge bedroom. You sleep there. How much space do you really need to sleep?
The largest bedroom in my house is 11x14. Plenty of space for a queen bed, 2 nightstands, a dresser and a chest of drawers. The other two bedrooms are about 10x10. Small, but still plenty of room for the basics.
Personally, given a choice I'd go with larger living spaces over spacious bedrooms every time. :-)
Cutest. Bunkbeds. Ever.
I will say this tho- our last bedroom was tiny- just exactly as long as the bed, and that was a reall challenge with both my wife and I sleeping in it- she had to crawl over me to get out! Really annoying. Also, avoiding covering the heating vents with a dresser was a real trial. And forget night stands. I could see where small could be a lot more fun when you can really customize the space, tho.
I really like all of these bedrooms, especially the first one..my only thing is, with the exception of the bunk beds and the third photo, none of those rooms are really small...they're just deliberately filled with stuff. If you took some of the furniture out of that first room, it'd be a normal-sized bedroom. And that last room features a bed cove, but the rest of the room is most likely normal-sized as well.
I think most Americans would consider these rooms small.
I agree w/ unabridged. Around here, smaller than 10'x10' is considered small. 12'x12' is considered average.
These bedrooms are great but probably twice the size of mine. Nightstands? I'm lucky to get a full-size bed and dresser in there.
I've always been partial to small bedrooms - den instinct and such. I would have so loved pic #2 when I was a kid!!
I never understood the appeal of a large bedroom. It's like sleeping in a ballroom. Our main bedroom is ca 10'x13' and that's large enough. One whole side is floor to ceiling windows, though, which prevents it from feeling cramped.
I love the last one. No boggarts getting in there.
Mind you, I hate having to convert sizes to real money...
I love all of these, especially the bunk beds. My smallest bedroom was a 6'x8' (including the closet), and it was teeny. I wound up putting my bed high, and having all of my clothing storage underneath so I could shove the bed partially into the closet. I then hung curtains from the outside of the closet through the clothing bar and behind the bed. Super cozy!
That gave me enough space to finagle a desk and all of my music stuff in the room too. Honestly, I want to go back to something that cozy someday!
My bedroom is 10x9 and it really bothers me. I can barely fit a queen bed, 2 small night stands, and some dressers. I have 1 foot of walking space between the foot of my bed and my dressers. I'm trying to find a new bed just so I can gain a few inches in each direction.
For those who are asking the point of large bedrooms - they just feel luxurious. My ex had a bedroom that was about 15 x 40 (yes, 40), and it was fantastic. I would kill for that kind of space.
Love love love the color combo of the first room.
I think crazy bright colors look super comfy in small spaces.
I have actually lived on both ends of the spectrum and I actually felt more luxurious in my smaller bedroom. Not to mention the coziness of a smaller room. I guess the only thing I prefer large is a closet lol.
hello? wanna ask the color of the gold tan ceiling from the room with the chandelier?
The first room is from www.isabellaandmaxrooms.blogspot.com, not rate my space. Thanks, Janell
I need a really shallow dresser for new, very small bedroom. Any ideas on where to find a dresser under 17" deep? I have lots of height to work with and about 35" width.
