After sharing several of the most beautiful but expensive small space beds we could find, it seemed necessary to follow up with a guide for budget shoppers. Here are 10 real-world options for studios, guest rooms, and tiny spaces — all clocking in under the $1,000 mark.
- BoConcept: This contemporary chain store has several storage beds, including the $995 Limo Bed (shown above), a platform with built-in drawers.
- Charles P. Rogers: Based in New York with an extensive online catalog, Charles P. Rogers carries several brass and iron beds under $1,000, including trundle models. The Cottage Trundle Bed (shown above) starts at $600 and could work in either a traditional or vintage-modern room.
- Restoration Hardware: Their French Academie Iron Bed is a slim design with enough space underneath for storage. It works with or without a bedskirt, and it's currently on sale for $625 - $985.
- Hayneedle: This mega-webshop has a huge selection of trundle and loft beds, and while the styles can be a little fugly, you can find basic contemporary designs if you spend some time looking. Shown above is the Astoria Daybed, starting at $510. The space underneath is large enough for storage drawers or a trundle.
- West Elm: They sell a few affordable daybeds, platforms, and storage beds, including the upward-lifting Pivot Storage Bed Frame (shown above) for $800 - $1,000.
- Room & Board: Their popular Loft Bed starts at $700 and is now available in 8 colors. Although they market it as a kid's bed, it's large enough for an adult and could work well as a guest or studio bed.
- Ballard Designs: Their Louis Daybed with Trundle is a good-looking traditional option for $999. Although it seems not quite comfortable enough for a full-time bed, it could be great for guests.
- Oeuf: This kids' furniture store makes modern twin beds that are stylish enough for a single adult. Their Sparrow Twin Bed is $890 for the frame and $290 for a slim, matching trundle that's stowed underneath.
- IKEA: At $350, their Mandal Bed Frame with Drawers is the least expensive option on this list. It's not heirloom furniture, but it's affordable and modern.
- World Market: They have several budget storage beds that aren't the highest quality, but are fine if you're looking for something simple and inexpensive. Their White Chase Storage Queen Platform Bed sells for just $500.

Nomade Express Slee...
Where can I get the white metal nightstand in the first picture?
The ikea mandal bed looks nice and is functional, BUT the drawers cracked after a year or so of use. It can't support itself.
I clearly have a different meaning of the word "budget".
What I don't understand is this. Aren't storage beds mainly for small spaces? Then how am I supposed to have enough space around the bed to open drawers or pull things out of the sides? I think the only one that would work in my tiny condo is the one that lifts. I'm amazed at how few of these I can find.
I have a Mandal that I bought three years ago and have moved three times and it's still OK. The only problem is that it's difficult to use the drawers and still have a night stand. I didn't get the head board. I was thinking about getting floating shelves to use as night stands but I'm lazy :P
agree with Clai.
Sarah, thank you for this wonderful collection of eye-candy. Thoroughly enjoyable!
P.S. I just looked at the "beautiful but expensive" ones and like every one of THESE way better!
I have to say I am a bit unimpressed with this selection. And you didn't include the Ikea SULTAN ALSARP that has a liftup storage base.
Just got back from World Market & we ordered the Chase Storage Bed (in medium brown, not white)! It's a great size & will work perfectly. Thanks for this post - this just solved an almost 5 year problem in one morning!
Thanks! Nice picks. I was a little depressed after the last bunch.
I suggest you check out the storage bed options at Anderson's Ultimate Bed: http://www.ultimatebed.com/
They may seem a bit rustic to some, but undoubtedly practical and well priced.
I love this!
I was gonna look at the beds, but i just can´t seem to take my eyes of THAT WALL!!!!!
Bokoncepts grey concrete-looking wall, is amazing and i need to have one!
Also unimpressed with the selection. I realize AT plays fast and loose with the word, "budget" but seriously, there have to be some options that are inclusive to those who aren't able to spend $500+ on a bed. Now a mattress, maybe, but a bed? not so much.
for those of us on a waaaaay lower budget, thrift shops often have a ton of cheapo bed frames with head/footboard - for a modern look I just bought the simplest one, painted it a solid color and feel like it does a good job. I prefer a higher bed so I can fit storage boxes underneath. Bed frame, $35, mattress, $500, that was more like it for me.
AZSTAR: you can get the white nightstand at BoConcept
