Nicole is a regular Apartment Therapy reader who lives in a studio. She recently worked on the dining area of her small space, creating a spot for entertaining guests through creative re-use of items - nothing new was purchased to set up this space which is always a good way to go - kind to both the planet and your wallet!
After eating off ottomans for the past year, I decided it was time to have a real dining space. The table is an outdoor folding table that I already owned, covered with a table cloth my mom had lying around. The chair is a roadside find that my grandfather fixed up for me. My mom and I found the silver tray at our local recycling center (it’s real silver- the things people throw away!). I have two folding chairs that match the table stored under my bed for additional seating.
Truthfully, I’m just excited to have a space in my studio apartment to entertain (a few) lunch and dinner guests. And, my boyfriend and I can now enjoy a meal together when he visits that doesn’t involve dining on the floor. (He provided the roses, and I provided breakfast – I think it was a fair trade!) But the best part by far is enjoying my morning coffee at my own “Café Nicola” -- it pretty much guarantees a good start to my day!
Thanks, Nicola!

I think the floral arrangement is too "feminine."
(That was a joke.)
It's super cute and those eggs look delicious right now. Very smart organizing.
I like that you are using the radiator and windowsill as additional "table space." Great use of space.
Love it! Very euro simple!
Might want to get glass or plexiglass for top of table to cut down on washing tablecloth.
Enjoy!
Are there non-glass/plexiglass options for surfaces to go on top of tableclothes? I finally got a kitchen table with a finish I give a damn about, but I need it as a work surface, so I put a tablecloth on top but I don't actually want to have to wash it all that often. Maybe something that is flexible so it can be rolled up?
I am coveting a blueberry tart right now. :9
I had a gorgeous walnut table once that I wanted to protect -- I carefully carefully cut a rubberized vinyl -- it was softer and squishier than oil cloth -- a whisper smaller than the table, so about 1/8 of an inch of wood showed up. It was orange and looked cool, and could be wiped down very easily...

sweet!
Beautiful though I second the plexiglass top idea. I love the chair - if only you had a second.
The curtains add such a lovely lightness to it :)

Me too!
Love the curtains, the light, the chairs and the table spread.
So adorable and doable!
