Imagine a desk which shared the same DNA as the recent convertible form factor Windows 8 laptops like the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13, capable of switching from a compact flat form to an opened up tablet or laptop friendly setup. That's basically the idea behind designer Michael Hilger's The HIDEsk, a concept just unveiled at furniture fair, IMM Cologne...

Here's a quirky video explaining Hilger's philosophy behind his HIDEsk folding desk design, which can lean against a wall, fold out, or even be hung on a wall for hide away storage.

Michael Hilger also has two other home office/tech related designs to complement his folding secretary desk: the Tar al, a compact display and storage unit built for laptops, smartphones, books, tablets, and small accessories, and bedtimestory, a bedside lamp with a book hanging appendage that doubles up as a bookmark, alongside a small stand for your alarm clock (aka your cell phone)
