Italian home furnishings brand Poliform and their kitchen design brand Varenna have developed an inspirational site that showcases their products and the possibilities of small spaces. My Life in 80m² — that's about 860 square feet — is a beautiful collection of photos and ideas that maximize functionality.
I found the My Life in 80 Square Meters site is best navigated when the "auto" function is disengaged and you manually progress through the space. Poliform makes beautiful storage pieces — I am especially fond of the simplicity of the Varenna kitchen that includes integrated appliances, a tuck-away fume hood and space for recycling.
While Poliform is expensive, the My Life in 80 Square Meters site helps to demonstrate that a few carefully selected quality pieces can create a luxurious living space.

Definitely a smart and stylish use of space! It should be noted that 80sq.m is pretty big for two people by European standards, though... most couples are happy to find 40-60sq.m places. I have friends with children who live in 60-80sq.m apartments. (I myself live alone and feel like I'm living a life of luxury in my 45sq.m two-bedroom apartment; most singles live in 25-35sq.m studios.)
I agree with fraise, a one bedroom place in 80m2 is not a small space at all. Plus it's double height, if it were actually 2 entire floors that would be closer to 120m2 of space, and I'll bet the terrace is not included in the square footage. It's a lovely space but I would not call it small.
This place is as large as my 3 bedroom 2 bathroom home. While not as luxuriously styled, I'd much rather have the extra bedrooms.
I cannot focus on the furnishings because I keep getting distracted by that floating stair. Those slabs of wood must somehow be cantilevered from the wall. A pretty tricky detail, but nice if you can pull it off.
How do those stairs work? I'd love to have those!
I'd wager that the use of space and it's height makes it feel much bigger than 860 SqFt and a lot of that is the large open main room.
It's a nice space overall and will have to check out the website for ideas, which is why I love IKEA for their ideas as well for they focus on small spaces as that's how most Europeans and many of us who rent or live in condos have to deal w/ here in the US.
