Equipped with seven drivers, a subwoofer, two additional surround speakers in the rear and dedicated USB audio dock, these two laptop dock desks from La Boîte Concept are sort of a small space dweller's laptop dream desk come true.
Delivered in a pair of modest sized boxes, the La Boîte Concept LD 120 and LD 130 come delivered with the legs and one central speaker/tabletop. Inside the desk is a USB plug-in to DAC (ATOLL Burrbrown sound card USB DAC), which improves outgoing sound. The primary difference between the two models is physical size, color/finish options, quality of the driver (paper vs. kevlar), and overall watts available, but they're both very space efficient.
They've even been so nice to put together an assembly video, showing how easy and quickly one can put together the LD desks (looks like they utilize the same sort of twist and locking screws IKEA is fond of). Don't make the mistake of falling in love with these too quickly like we did. With the weak dollar, the smaller LD 120 will set you back over $1,285 (sans shipping) and the larger LD 130 a tear-inducing, $1,941.
DIY, anyone? Seems like one could create something similar using the ZVOX Z-Base 555 speaker and some IKEA hacking...
