A good solution for too-small-for-furniture entry areas is the Slatrack by Wallter. A wall-hung version of the "landing strip" it provides a place to hang stuff (jackets, bags, keys, helmet) and to stash your incoming and outgoing mail (there is a shelf behind the slats). It doesn't take up precious floor space, and it is sculptural...

...and colorful, making it a worthwhile decorative addition even when it is not in use.
The Slat Rack is made of powder coated steel and comes in green, orange, chocolate brown and white for $145. Available right here.

$145 though - really?
Amazing peice, I love it but not that price. The key part almost sold me but then I bought a chandelier for the same price. Make it out of recycled chewing gum for like $45.99 and Im in!
I really like the look of those! Must be pretty strong to hold up a bookbag, too. Still, I wish it were a little cheaper.
Thanks AT for the post! And thanks for the great comments.
Yes, $145 may seem like a high price, but please consider that these are made in the USA out of powder coated steal....not recycled chewing gum..which then you should only pay $12.99 for...
Hmmm. I don't think the cost is related to the little bit of steel....
Where can I find a cheaper version?
I just saw this in Toronto earlier today (the white one), and I believe it's on sale.
What's the store in Toronto?
There's a high-end decor shop in Hazelton Lanes shopping centre (in Yorkville, at Hazelton and Yorkvill, behind the Hazelton hotel) - they were in the back of the store where sale items are usually kept, on the floor. There were at least 10 of them, all white.
