Living with tiny bathrooms is nothing new to small space dwellers. But living comfortably is all in the layout and fixtures. The right fixtures can make the difference of being able to squeeze in a powder room, or even transform a powder room into a full size bath. From sinks less than 8-inches deep to toilet-combination units, here are inspirational images of tiny sinks and real life fixtures to buy.

1. & 2. IKEA is a great source for tiny space inspiration and problem solving products. Here, the LILLÅNGEN series is used to create a functional tiny vanity: a narrow sink, hooks, a small counter surface and storage below help make the compact room work. [via IKEA]

4. Installing a powder room under the stairs is a great use of typically wasted space. This particular image is one of my favorites, and part of what makes it work is the small wall mounted sink that frees up floor space in front of the toilet. [via Apartment Therapy]
5. A narrow sink makes this narrow powder room useable. The designer was smart to mount the sink onto narrow wall mounted cabinets for extra counter and storage space. [via Apartment Therapy]

Uhhh, a sink on top of a toilet? I don't think I could do that.
Seems like a good space saver, and certainly better than no sink, but I have a tiny (albiet cool looking) sink like these and I can't wash my face without making a huge mess. I am quite thankful that wipes are easy to find and rather inexpensive these days.
I love the idea of a sink on top of the toilet! I would much rather have a larger shower space than a separate sink and toilet, but I could see why it would cause others to squirm.
We have a teeny master bath, but I'm determined to get a double sink in there. I'm praying Ikea doesn't discontinue the Odensvik sink before we get around to remodeling!

the sink ontop of a toilet is a water saving thing, i have seen it in a lot of restaurants and businesses that are environmentally conscience. the idea is the water used by the last person to wash their hands is recycled into the tank for the next persons flush.
we went through this a few years ago. Ended up with a 10" deep basin and a custom built cabinet (pictures here: http://www.lifeonchurchill.com/2010/09/bathroom-is-finished-well-almost.html) glad you are highlighting this!
Wow, both my sink and my faucet are in this line up.....
Sinks in toilets would probably be ok in a lavatory, but I don't think they are remotely practical for a full bathroom where you want to brush your teeth or wash your face. Fascinating idea, though!
When my husband and I moved into our house we were desperate for a second bathroom, so we converted the coat closet in the foyer into a water closet. Since the space started out as a closet, we didn't have enough space for both a toilet and a sink, so we got the Sink Positive Toilet Lid Sink and we love it! When you flush the toilet, the water runs through the sink into the toilet bowl. So far, the only problem we've had with it is when people with really dirty hands wash them because then all that dirt ends up in the toilet bowl.
I agree that the sink/toilet combination is great for a powder room, or a restaurant/shop, but not in a full bathroom. I like bench space around my sink, as well as a decent sized sink for washing my face etc.
I stayed in a rental house recently that had #6. It was surprisingly usable.
Also, I could not do the toilet/sink combo. Call me a prude!
I'm looking at the LILLÅNGEN series of sink for my bathroom someday soon. The newest one - the one shown in pictures 1 and 2 - is surprisingly wide. The smallest is 15" x 16" and goes perfect in my tiny 5' x 7' bathroom space, and provides storage that my current pitiful pedestal sink doesn't.
We are currently using the sink on top of the toilet tank and I have reservations and commendations for it. Solved a huge space issue for us, but it's plastic and thus feels chintzy. Also, it's ineffectual for washing your face before bed or in the morning! Too tiny and splashing water out of the sink is a problem. For our next tiny bathroom space we are using an IKEA sink I didn't see mentioned here called the Ann(e). It's tiny, rounded. Large enough to be functional. I do tend to like more squared off sinks.
I love all of the modern sink options. If you are looking for something on the traditional side, take a look at the sinks and vanities here. Just as space-saving, less stark.

Please apartment therapy if you could help me on who made the product of the sink on picture 4. It is exactly what I'm looking for and need for my 1/2 bath. I've been searching and found nothing else that would come close to what I like. I wish there was a link or something on where to buy that item. Thanks so much for any help.
