Tip for Living Small with Kids: Having a small home is awesome for having small kids- there aren't very many places they can be and are always fairly near by. I can also hear everything they're doing! We keep a diaper box (plastic tote with diapers, wipes, etc) in our room and the boys' room, that way we can change a diaper without having to go to the changing pad every time. Kids don't really need tons of space, but as they get older, they do want to have a place for all their special stuff. We put up a shelf for our 6 yr old to display his favorite toys. You have to build up in a small space!

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in putting together this room? The biggest challenge was fitting the crib into a room that already had a bed, dresser, toy storage, bookcase, etc. We actually moved the big dresser into the closet, and kept the small dresser in the room. When the baby outgrows the crib, we will get a bunkbed, and that will open up more space. It took some moving around of furniture to finally get the best arrangement. Sometimes you just need to actually move stuff around in order to find what will work.

I'd love to know where the mirrored "O" came from. My son is an Oliver, too... :-)
the blue on your walls is awesome, so calm and neutral. my kids will also be sharing a room in a few short months and painting the walls a new shade of blue thats pleasing for both a boy and a girl is on my nesting list, haha. if you wouldnt mind sharing, whats it called??
For some reason, i'm getting a message that "thumbs up voting" is closed for this entry.
I give you a thumbs up anyway. It's hard to arrange a small room once you move to a twin bed. We are trying to put that off as long as possible but our kid is close to outgrowing the toddler bed any minute now...
Thumbs Up!! (It's also telling me that voting is closed for this entry)
I love wonderful shade of blue on the walls. Thinking of repainting my son's room, blue.
We're also considering purchasing that very same twin/trundle bed(Arlington Ayres). It's a big purchase for us, so if you wouldn't mind sharing how you like it, I'd be appreciative.

Love the letter "e"s above the bed!! Can you please tell me where you got them (both of my kids have names starting with "E".
thanks all, the blue paint is a behr shade, but i don't remember what it's called now.
both the hanging e and o (hanging from the ribbon) are from anthropologie. they are padded and covered in fabric. the other e and o are recycled metal from urban outfitters. the white flat e is made by making memories and i think i got it from target ages ago.
the bed is from ikea, and has 3 roll out drawers underneath. it was fairly cheap, i think like $100. i love the extra storage! we've had that bed for 5 yrs, and it's held up really well. it's a tight fit w/ a twin bed and a crib, but it won't be for long. we will be getting the boys a bunkbed once oliver is 1.5 ish.
the hearts mobile above the crib i made, if anyone is wondering. i actually copied a pottery barn kids mobile, it was so easy!
I really do love that mobile. It adds a different shape into the mix. So cute!
Could you please share where you got both sets of bedding? I love the yellow stripes on the twin bed and the brown polka dot sheets on the crib.
Thanks for your inspiration! It really is a beautiful room. Well done!
yellow stripe bedding is from ikea, brown dot crib sheet is from baby gap.
THUMBS UP!! I can't give a thumbs up anymore but I really dig this room! I live in a tight space and I agree whole heartedly that when you need to make room in a small space moving up is the way to go! :)
the boys that share this space are *every bit* as cute as their room!
