Tip for Living Small with Kids: Storage, storage, storage! I have baskets all over the apartment. Who wants to look at cheesy, plastic toys and contraptions all day?

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in putting together this room? Her original nursery was a bit bigger, so when we moved (when she was 3 weeks old) we realized our furniture was a little large and the layout wasn't as great. We scaled down to a more modest sized rocker and lamp and that seemed to free up some floor space. As far as the layout, I made my poor husband move and rearrange things until it felt right. I'm still always lurking design blogs for better and more creative ideas, even though my husband refuses to move that crib ever again. Ha!

Very colorful and cute
I love the rug & crib! Could you tell me where its from?
very cute! love the natural colors... yes please where the rug is from!
Very nice. Fun without being a sugarcandyland of pastel colour.
Thanks! The rug is from Ikea and the crib is from Wal-mart (Babymod series).
ooooh i adore the letters for her name on the wall! are the bigger than the ones in your last apartment?
Can you tell me where you got your storage shelving with the baskets in it? I love it! Thanks!
I absolutely love the simplicity of this room Jess! I love the art, and just how different & unique it is. Love, love, love it!
Very cute!
This is everything I've ever wanted in a nursery! Seriously, I have been stalking this website for the answers to my small nursery space, for storage, but still a really cute and warm unique look. This is IT!! Where did you get your bedding by the way? Did you make it yourself? If so, where did you get the fabric for the sheets. I've been looking for a very similar fabric pattern but can't find anything like it anywhere.
*The handmade letters are the same (24 in.), but instead of being on the shelves I hung them with bird hooks from Anthropologie.
*The art I painted while waiting for Zoe to pop out.
*The shelving unit and baskets are from Ikea.
*The bedding is from Target Dwell series, but the quilt and pillow was made by my mother in-law using the Dwell fabric curtains and Amy Butler fabric. And the bumper is just a plain yellow one I picked up at BabiesRUS.
Thanks everyone for all the love!
I went to Ikea last weekend to get that same rug but they didn't have it. :-( Great job on your nursery!
can you post the link for the shelving unit and baskets from ikea? i love them!
the darkest stripes on that rug, are they grey or brown? looking for something like it with brown.
I hate to be a bother, but do you know what the name of that Dwell sheet set is? I'm having trouble finding it online.
I forgot to mention I love the rug too! :)
you know what i love? that you have carpeting, and the room still looks great. i'm stuck with carpeting right now and everywhere i look for inspiration, all i see is hard wood floors. congratulations on making the bland beige carpeting virtually disappear! the room is fabulous.
Great room! About the rug. If I am correct, it is from Ikea. We got the same one and had to return it. It had too much lint coming out of it.
I love Zoe's room. Can you please tell me where you got the fox soft toy from...it is very cute?
The baskets in the expedit shelving are perfect, but I can't seem to find them on ikea's site. What are they called?
I love the tree branch over the closet. How did you make it? Are the leaves made with wallpaper? Fabric? I wish I could see a close-up... :o) This is so harmonious; well done!
LOVE your room! I LOVE the letters. Did you make those? If so, how? Where did you find the letter shapes? Also, did you paint the Rocking Moose from Ikea. We've been eyeing it for our son for Christmas next year, but it won't match his room very well. Love the creative flair with great design taste in your room... eclectic, artsy, designy, beautiful! Love Zoe's name too!
I also love the tree branch great touch. Beautiful baby girl's room
Oh! This is so lovely. I have frequented apartment therapy for a good few years but have never created an account, your delightful room however has finally prompted me to do so. Oh please tell me you sell your artwork online somewhere! The antlered goat is striking and the silver birch, oh the silver birch. A long time favorite tree. And the toys, what a room full of characters!
