Tip for Living Small with Kids: Until I was pregnant, I never realized how much you need for a baby! As our shower gifts started rolling in, I realized that we would never have enough closet space to put everything away.
Day by day I began making room. I organized the kitchen cabinets to clear up some space for all the bottles and food items. The next day I cleared out a shelf in the linen closet for Collin's towels, washcloths and soaps. Before I knew it, all of his things had a place to go and my own things were organized too!
By getting rid of things I didn't need or want I realized that I have a lot more space than I thought I did. Now that everything has its own place it is SO much easier to keep the house tidy... even with a newborn!

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in putting together this room? Our biggest challenge in this room was finding a way to allow for space to grow as Collin gets older. We know that he will accumulate a lot of toys in the future (as all kids do) and wanted to allow for plenty of room to play!
We started by taking advantage of the high ceilings in the room and purchasing a dresser, changing table and hutch combo. We also selected a glider that matches other rooms in our home so that we can move it later if necessary.
My husband wanted a car theme in our son's room, but I still wanted it to feel like a nursery. Being unable to find what I wanted, I decided to make the bedding and pillows. We also painted the mural in simple geometric shapes in various shades of yellow. This made a big statement without making the room seem too cluttered. We then added a few accessories and organized our closets and drawers using boxes and baskets to make the most of the small amount of hidden storage we have. Everything has a place now and the room is so much fun to play in with our little boy!

I love the 'Vroom Vroom' on the wall behind the crib - very cute! Nice job!
I LOVE the colors! The ideas for added room are so simple but I'm sure that people just don't think of them. Great Job Andie!
Beautiful! What a talented young lady you are! Can't wait to see the rest of your house!
Andrea's new-baby haven! Very intimate and special. I like the little car motif, glad they didn't use "PowerRangers", "Dragon Ball Z", symbols of pop-kid-culture violence, which in my opinion, have no place in designing a nest for a new boy baby. Very rich, subtle colors, I almost want to curl up in that crib and take a nap myself! Excellent project!!! Collin is a very lucky lad indeed, to have such talented parents wanting to make his early times esthetically marvelous! Thumbs Up at 41!
Love the color selection and the car theme. Very creative. It's wonderful to see a mother using her true artistic talents to create a unique room for her new baby! Collin is a very lucky little boy.
