Tip for Living Small with Kids: I guess we'll find out in 5 weeks! :) My tip for living in a small space in general is to look at the space with a visitor's eyes and then sort, rearrange & clean out often. It's all too easy to step around that box or this pile that was supposed to be temporary but somehow has become part of the landscape. Looking at the space with fresh eyes helps us to realize what needs to go or be put somewhere else.

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in putting together this room? Since we have a one-bedroom, we wanted to really share our room while still maintaining space for us as a couple and her as a baby. We chose smaller furniture (a mini-crib, bookshelf that we turned into her armoire, etc.) that echoes the cherry wood of our four-poster bed to give the room a feeling of continuity. We then chose whimsical patterns that give some contrast with our simple bedspread and curtains to define her space. We also integrated our love of maps and foreign travel into the mobile, wall hanging and lamp we made for her--the brightly painted map above her crib is a fun counterpoint to the old-world style map we have above our bed.

So, if I post a second comment, does that mean I can vote again?
