Have you been Michelle Kaufmann's Smart Home yet? If not, this Saturday the Smart Home will be having a fall harvest festival just in time for Halloween and the changing seasons. There will be a farmer's market, a sustainable furniture design showcase, a greeting from Wicked cast members, and a Halloween costume contest. The A Home for all Seasons event is part of the rotating activities at the The Museum of Science and Industry's Smart Home. There will be presentations on green materials, insulation and lighting; fall gardening activities; pumpkin carving; organic treats and cooking presentations using a solar-powered oven.
Additionally, The Chicago Furniture District will have on display sustainable furniture designs made of materials ranging from soybeans and cornhusks to salvaged doors and railroad ties. Featured boutiques include Sawbridge Studios, Cambium Furniture and Kitchens, PA Larking, and Mig & Tig.
