I'm totally with Anna (of Door Sixteen) in hating the look of messy, danging cords and plugs. So I'm a fan of her recent project to hide those cords in a neat, fashionable way by upcycling a wooden gift box she'd received at Christmas (the kind that usually carry an array of food items). The end result is what essentially amounts to an 'electric outlet cozy,' as Anna says, and it gets the job done!
What makes this successful is that Anna gave the box a little style with paint and a classic Red Cross-like cross. So simple! As Anna writes:
I doubt this is a project that anyone else will be replicating in their own homes, but I figured I'd share it anyway! I know I could have made a very simple, small box to hide the outlet and painted it to blend with the wall more, but I thought it would be more fun to make something that looks intentional. Intentionally weird, maybe, but at least I can't see that stupid outlet or the plugs anymore!
