We've all heard about parents using the TV as a babysitter, but more and more moms and pops are turning to their cell phones for relief. According to CNN, there's been an increase in the number of apps available via the iTunes App Store that cater to preschool or elementary-aged children. Is this a good thing or bad use of tech in and outside the home? Chime in at Unplggd!

It's *fantastic*! Being on an airplane recently with a fidgety three-year-old, I can say the iphone made all the difference in the world.
In desperation I once whipped out my phone and played They Might Be Giants videos off of youtube. Worked like a mesmerizing charm.
Only danger is that once kids experience the magic tiny box, they want it every time they see you use it!
As far as I can tell from my goddaughter, who, at 3, showed her grandmother how to use an iPod touch, we're turning the next generation into baby geniuses (or possibly even superbabies: baby geniuses 2).
In France, it's illegal to make TV shows for children under 3. Does the French app store have iPhone apps for babies?

I like the old way... parenting as an action verb. The current days of belts, shoes, babies, purses and other accessories I find appalling. So does our judicial system...
umm, not so sure about that. the amount of radiation the phone gives off doesn't make it something i would think is healthy for a little person who's skull is not nearly as thick as ours. they don't need phones, applications, or computers, what they need is for parents to instead hang up and play.
