The words "retro" and "green" don't usually belong in the same sentence, especially if you're talking about refrigerators. Generally, the older a fridge looks, the more energy it's sucking. But, we love to be proven wrong.
These retro, energy-efficient refrigerators from SMEG are slick and green. They wouldn't exactly work in our current kitchen, but we're daydreaming about a 1930s bungalow complete with the red version!
According to Jetson Green, these compact fridges (9.22 cubic feet) use 305 kWh/year -- meaning they're the most efficient in their size range.

That's a hot fridge
Smeg is my dream fridge. Love the pastels but I'd probably just buy a white one.
I've seen pics on the inside and it's definitely a smaller fridge. Perfect if your single or maybe a couple. Once you go past 2 people you're bound to run out of room.
This would make an awesome little frigde for a man cave or a workspace except for one small problem...

As much as I love the orange version of this fridge I can buy a cheap fridge and save money on the front end rather than drop two grand and have a little bit lighter bill each month.
This is where "green" starts to get ridiculous. It may be eco-friendly but definitley not consumer friendly...and that makes me sad.
My husband and I bought a fridge not long ago and were planning to buy the Smeg until we did an internet search of reviews. The thing that got me most was that almost every review started out with, "I could hardly wait to buy this fridge. . ." and ended with, "this was the worst purchase ever." Granted the fridge we went with has less curb appeal, but when it comes to something that needs to function, I'll take lesser looks higher function every time.
