Smith and Hawken is housed in an amazing old building.

The big brick shop on North Kingsbury is such a cool space. The interior is great, with double height ceilings and soaring industrial windows. It is perfect for a garden shop - the spaciousness mimics the outdoors. Full gazebos and multiple patio settings are housed inside, with room to spare.

We stopped in today and were surprised at how few plants are available, compared to visits we've made in the past. It really is almost all outdoor furniture and accessories, with some gardening goods mixed throughout.

We like the firepits. We always do, from anywhere; just the idea of them.

The arches and trellises are interesting. It's nice to think of an overgrown garden with one of these as a centerpiece.

Our favorite: the flatware with bamboo resin handles (on sale for $39.20) - we used to have a set like this have always thought that it is so summery and kind of retro/tiki/fun.

The quality of the outdoor furniture options seems high, but not wildly varied in style so if you like the Smith & Hawken look, you're in luck, but if not....

Sales were on throughout the shop, and there is a small outlet (entrance on the west side of the building) with extra good prices.
