Toronto's Snake Island Furniture is a fairly young company "reclaiming, reusing and re-envisioning" wood harvested from Toronto's forests. Their collection includes coffee tables, sideboards, media centers, dining room tables and stools — all imperfect, all exceptional...

All of Snake Island Furniture's wood is sourced from trees slated for removal, including butternuts, black walnuts, burley cherry, Russian olive, and weeping willows. Usually these trees are chopped up and sent to a landfill, but instead a local arborist in contract with Snake Island carefully cuts large pieces of this "waste" wood and has it milled, dried and sent to a master cabinet maker.

Prices range from $750 for the Iroquois Small Wood Table (shown above) to $10,500 for a 12-person dining table. Prices vary depending on the size and type of wood available. All of the furniture is treated with a protective clear lacquer which can be cleaning with vinegar and water.
