At double the rate of just two years ago, cell phones account for 9% of all still-image captures, according to a Consumer Electronics Association Press Release. Why? It's easy, it's always there, and the technology is improving--among other reasons.
Forty-seven percent of cell phone camera users who classify their cell phone as their primary image-capture device also have a digital camera...that's surprising to us, since that means that over half of the cell phone picture takers rely on it as their only source of digital pictures.
How important is your cell phone's camera to you? How often do you use it to take pictures? Do you have both? Which do you use more if you have both?
Statistic originally seen in Electronic House's June 2007 issue.

I only use my cell phone camera to capture those weird things you see while going about daily life, like a funny sign or a giant hippo statue being hauled around on a flatbed trailer (yes, this is a real-life example). Those times when you say to yourself, "Man, I wish I had a camera". Otherwise we have a Canon digicam for more formal pictures.
Honestly, I only use my cameraphone camera to assign pics to the people in my contact list so that their photos pop up on screen when they call. I think every cell phone available at the time I went for my trade-in had a camera, but there's no way I will pay for the service to send pix messages.
