Sneak Peek: Toronto's Interior Design Show IDS12

With over 300 exhibitors,Toronto's large Interior Design Show IDS12 runs this weekend. Toronto has the fastest growing condo market in the world and IDS12 focuses on what new condo dwellers need for their homes. There are 12 feature exhibits and many international guests exhibiting and lecturing. Outside the Metro Toronto Convention Centre is a free exhibition of ice sculptures in the shape of iconic pieces, like the Le Corbusier club chair.

My favorite section is usually "Studio North," a gallery-like installation of works by 60 Canadian and International designers original furniture, lighting, glass, ceramics, and textiles. This year is the first year of "Off-Site On-Site," featuring large scale works of 9 designers and small works by students from 6 Canadian design schools. We blogged about interior designer Mazen's home and "How Do You Live?," the new exhibition that includes his work and projects of 5 other Canadian designers, each examining small-scale condo living.

IDS12 is open to the public this weekend at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, North Building, located at 255 Front Street West. See the IDS12 website for more info.
