Last week the east coast got loads of snow and this week meteorologists are predicting up to two feet across the midwest. In preparation for potential school closings we have started a list of ways to keep snow interesting when it seems endless.
• Fill squirt bottles with water and tint with food coloring to paint the snow.
• Elevate the snow arts with a snowball maker and snow brick mold, or dig out all of the kids' summer sand toys for snow castles.
• Homemade ice cream! Sweeten up a gallon of clean fresh snow with a cup of sugar, a tablespoon of vanilla extract and enough milk to achieve the right consistency. Serve immediately.
• Are the snowman's top hat and carrot nose looking a little played? Make an entire family that looks just like your own with clothing castoffs from each member of your brood.
What are you doing to keep the kids entertained during Snowmaggedon 2011?
