So, in wanting to start a more substantial home, some super stylish friends saved up and bought a stunning bamboo dining table from Show Furniture on Vermont. The friends dreamt of one day getting white Bertoia chairs, but needed to wait as the money truck had pulled away and those Bertoias cost hundreds of dollars apiece.
In the meantime, the gorgeous table with no chairs became a catchall for papers and bills. We needed to put an end to this pronto, so we convinced our pals to pick up some temporary chairs in the hopes that the table could at least be enjoyed.
Cut to: Our friends are in love with the sassy pink Snille chairs we picked up at Ikea ($19 ea), and now feel satisfied with the style choice and the price tag.

I have been looking for the perfect chair for our new kitchen table. The one I purchased is a 48" round childrens activity table made by Correll http://www.furniture-4kids.com/rounactab.html. I got the idea to use an activity table because I have three kids and the table ends up as a play doh play area and a craft area and we've ruined two wooden tables already. I purchased one with a red table top since our kitchen is red, orange, olive green, black and white. As you can tell - I have no problem with color and our house is pretty modern.
I wanted 6 chairs but what an expense and then I found your idea. I have long been thinking about using an office chair in the kitchen as the kids would love to wheel around (we have a big kitchen) but again, the expense for six was making it a bit more than what I wanted to spend.
I am loving these Ikea chairs - they look so cool and you can't beat the price and they have Olive which would match my kitchen. They also have red, white and black so I could mix and match.
Thanks so much for the picture as not seeing how they look at a table was the only thing holding me back. Well that and the fact that I thought people would think I was crazy for using office chairs at my table.
I just wonder how comfortable and sturdy they are.......if anyone can answer, please do.
