The SOLAR Beech cabinet doors we fell in love with at IKEA's 2009 catalog preview event have finally made it on to the IKEA website with pricing information. The warm tones of the beech option of SOLAR fall in the mid-to-high range of IKEA's cabinet options...

SOLAR Beech is available in a huge range of sizes to customize IKEA cabinets.
If you love the look of SOLAR Beech, PERFEKT SOLAR Beech Panels offers the chance to purchase inexpensive beech veneer panels for your own DIY uses.
Has anyone seen SOLAR beech available at your local IKEA store?

Love the clean knob free design! The grain has really nice contrast. Anyone have comments on the long term quality of IKEA cabinetry?
ust placed our kitchen order at Ikea two days ago:
Solar Beech bottom cabs, Abstrakt White uppers, Tundra Gray plank flooring. Amazingly, the New Haven, CT Ikea salesperson who helped us was excited because she personally likes this combo, but claimed the display featuring Solar Beech was slated to be dismantled because it had generated zero interest!

JUST -- just placed.
Bit of reading lately on this topic for a friend who is remodeling and as I am the monster of decor I was enlisted: the overall consensus seems to be that there is by and large - a great deal of cheap junk and a delightful & generous offering of very expensive cabinetry.
In the middle lies Ikea, of a much better quality than anyone expected, lauded to be of their best offerings overall (compared to desks, etc) and when one is trying to come in on budget, hee hee, and you just can't say no to the pricey 1923 Wedgewood Oven (ooh ahh/sorry Energy Star) and you have to have the custom back-splash: many people will use the Ikea cabinetry to make it all somehow do-able.
Anecdotal? One of my bestest friends used the Ikea setup kitcherino several years ago: not a hiccup or a failure yet.
Also popular is to use Ikea cabinetry - and then to alter them just ever so slightly to personalize them so you don't find yourself feeling as if you're in your own kitchen wherever you go, at every cocktail party. For me, the part where you make them your own is the neato part.
I do realize this question was asked months ago, but if I stumbled here, someone else may too, right? Plus who doesn't love to hear me yammer on endlessly? (line forms to the right folks...)
Dare I be on topic, ever: as said, I was in Ikea Dec 31 and saw no Solar Beech offerings. Poor Rhonda and alas for all who sought. Cabinets looked so nice in the shot & I really feel there's a hole in the offerings at Ikea for that medium dark, nice grain... maybe zebrawood or ipe next, yeah? Kidding, no killing zebras for your counters!
I'm into poured concrete with a high ash content, myself. Wow. What a pickup line. Is Mike Holmes single?
Like the new door design a lot. As for Ikea cabinet quality: Second to none. The hardware is Blum (#1 in Europe), and is tough to beat when assembled correctly. You need a patient carpenter, and don't be afraid to add wood glue at joints, but regardless, Ikea cabinets are top notch.
