Sony Ups Playstation 3 Firmware To 2.50, PSP To 5.0

Ever since that infamous firmware scare, we've been reluctant to jump the boat on Sony's firmware releases. However, there are always some of those who always has to have the latest and greatest - like the people who probably sold off their Macbook as soon as the rumors came pouring in - this update is for you, my friends.

Playstation 3 owners: Your new 2.5 firmware update will give you the ability to do what all of us have been complaining about - being able to watch YouTube videos via the sluggish excuse of a browser that's included in the Playstation 3. You'll also be able to fast forward through videos via thumbnails (pretty cool), take in-game screenshots, and do little fancy power saving tricks with your controller.

PSP owners: Not too much on your end except the ability to access your account and the Playstation Store directly from your handheld. That means demos and trailers at your fingertips without ever having to turn on your PS3 or PC ever again! Yay!
