Project by: Whitney Walker of Farrington Lane
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
This project in Charleston was especially fun because it was a total surprise for the wife! While she was away in Africa on a medical trip for two weeks her husband and I transformed their bedroom into a peaceful retreat. I was a little more anxious throughout this project because of the surprise factor, but the reveal was totally worth it.
Their beautiful home was built in the 1800s and still has many of its original features that I wanted to complement. After toying with the idea of painting the room a sultry charcoal, I decided to update the existing blue paint to a warm white in coherence with the rest of the house (which took six coats).
I really wanted this room to feel calming, inviting, and romantic. The velvet drapes and slight luster in the geometric rug added the perfect romantic elements.
We were somewhat short on time so most everything in the room was purchased locally or had a short lead time. The pottery on the end tables and built-in cabinet is from Syndicate Sales, the bed is Pottery Barn, and the rods and curtains are from West Elm.
The faux antlers are from Jayson Home, the bedding is Matouk, and the chair is Lee Industries. The mini gallery wall is made up of personal pieces owned by the couple. Not pictured, brass sconces over the bed from Lamps Plus.
